Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm pretty sure Levy would be happy if we came top 4 every season and got past the CL group stage. So it's not entirely certain that we are not led to arrive at this conclusion.

The worst thing about letting Conte go would be that we will probably get Poch back and have to wait another season until he is fired and maybe then we can start over. If we don't get Simeone. Than its even further away.
I'm thinking more about the wage bill.

Levy will prefer the wages of the likes of Spence, Skipp, Sarr etc to two or three of Conte's picks.

Yes of course. I do too. When I get served this shit football. I miss Mason's football.

Getting us into the top 4 was massive. To say anyone could have done that with the squad is crazy... Nuno couldn't!

4th now is excellent, not sure it's down to luck

Conte sees fringe players day-in day-out, I would love to see one come on and boss it, but there's a reason for not picking them. They either don't get what's required, or aren't good enough.

Every other team rotates players but only three are above us at the moment... Maybe that is the proof to not rotate unless you have a squad like City.

I get your frustrations, but parts seem irrational

We're fourth on goal difference if United win their game in hand. People need to stop acting like our current table position says much when it is that precarious. The slightest shift could see us 6th or even 7th, would a single bad game have completely changed the picture? No.

That's not me saying we don't deserve to be there or whatever btw, it's just the transition from 'we're third' to 'we're fourth' is very telling. At this stage the table isn't telling us very much at all because it's all so close together.

Chelsea win a game in hand and they're 2 points off us. Potter's had a crap start and the previous manager was sacked - are they having a good season? United win their game in hand and we're ahead on GD - are they all that either?

Performances, performances, performances..

Honestly, it seems a bit pointless to argue all the minutiae of where we are on the table, the context of other teams' form etc etc.

None of it matters as much as how our team is performing, we need to judge our team only on the fundamental principle of "are we playing well?". The answer is a resounding no.

For us the more important question is why have we regressed so much from last season. Why has the confidence drained out of the team? Why is the manager making so many obvious mistakes?

Pretty much. We've scraped together a solid amount of points and should be happy about that, but it's clear this is a side regressing from last season atm. Liverpool have fallen off a cliff, United have only just began their 500th rebuild & Chelsea are a mess with a sacked manager already, so yes we're clinging on to a top 4 place but it doesn't mean we're doing well.

Not sure. Combo of World Cup + maybe even fatigue with Conte's methods already? Or even teams working out our setup a bit. Essentially losing Son for the season has been huge too, 23 goals 7 assists in the league last season + so far he's only scored in one game.

But Conte had 170 million on players he wanted, and a pre-season to work with the side, something we were consistently told would be a gamechanger..

In seriousness, the best comparrion is Klopp. He straight away made them better but they were still quite rubbish really, at first, and many people thoght he would get the boot before too long. It took a few windows before Klopp had what he wanted and suddenly things started to click. Are we going to go out and pay what seems at the time like a cray fee for the defender that we need who fixes us though? Like Liverpool did with VVD? I doubt it somehow.

Yeah, the much hyped Conte pre-season has not shown any sign of being effective, tactically or physically.

We looks as slow as Mourinho's Spurs and as disorganised as Nuno's Spurs. The only significant improvement I can see is set piece goals.

As far as I'm concerned Conte owes an explanation to Levy about what happened in Korea, why the team is the way it is right now.

I know football management doesn't work that way but you get my point.

How many times did he say “ambition of the club” in his presser today? I counted at least twice.

Love how he’s squeezing Danny by the balls like never before.

:kaneear:
I'm thinking the ambition of the club should include hiring a manager that can manage a tight schedule, that can adapt to different events in a game, can make changes to change the game and owns up to his own mistakes.
