I feel that Frank's future and his relationship with the fans hangs on whether he plays Gray and Bergvall more often as opposed to Palhinha and Bentancur.

Feel it's a bit like Poch in that instance, he went with Capoue/Paulinho and then turned to Mason and Bentaleb
Palhinha is an outstanding destroyer, stat wise the best in the league at tackling, he just is limited elsewhere. When you have someone who is so good at one thing you balance with something else. Palhinha should be played but in a midfield 3 with Bergvall and Gray/Sarr instead of Bentancur. Only play one of them at any one time.

When Frank played only 2 CM’s against Woolwich in the 343 formation and paired Palhinha and Bentancur he was asking for trouble as there is little ball retention/progression which meant relentless gooner pressure.

I agree in general with your point. The team needs upgrading but mostly at the front end, his selections in middle in a few games when he had other options have let us down. Bergvall and Gray need to be a big part of the team.

Probably as he’s trying to play football rather than recycle it to the centre backs like Bentacur and never play forward

I think frank doesn't trust youngsters, it seems. As soon as palhina and benta were available, sarr and berg were benched, even though we were playing very well with them in.

Balance is good. But frank favours seniors too much I think. A bit like mourinho.

Trust is one thing but you have to be exceptional to play regularly as a teenager in this league. Physically as much as anything it’s a different challenge to other leagues. As Conte once said, we play a different sport here.

The list of top players who weren’t PL proven regular starters at 19 is a lot longer than the list of those who were.

I would tend to agree regarding his trust in the youth in general, but his recent comments, which were along the lines of well, if Bergvall and Gray can play like they did against the best side in Europe then they are for sure ready for more chances in the starting line up.

Managers have zero incentive to cultivate youth these days due to significantly shorter tenures they have on average.

Why would anybody invest time and energy to an endeavour whose hardships he will suffer without reaping the rewards?

Managerial bias towards established players makes total sense. There’s a sharp divergence between their incentive structures versus fans’ who are in it for the long run.

That's where I think Frank has the patience to develop him... If only the fans and club will too!

The youthful athleticism of him, Sarr and Bergvall is desperately needed in our midfield.

We are better when at least 2 of them are on the pitch. Simons played like he was in this category today.
