Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Archie Gray , the Swiss Army knife , probably a tad early In his career for the World Cup squad but surely it’s just a matter of time , such a valuable squad player who can play multiple positions !

I loved the aggression he had in the second half, played proper football.

His performances against City, we might look back on in a few years and say that was one of his first brilliant performances in the league, albeit second half.

I said in the Gallagher thread, but Gallagher will be a really good influence on Gray.

Potentially an excellent combination there.
Thought he showed that bite and aggression couple of games ago but got a bad knock, think he’s a high IQ player, quick learner, understands the need to play hard more and more.

That was my hope with Gallagher, the intangibles to these performance charts - fire, aggression, intensity, those are strengths I’m surprised many of the anoraks here seemed to be utterly dismissive about.

Kid has always had a great attitude on the pitch. Looks and sounds like a very nice, clever boy off it too. Still plenty room for improvement, but only 19 eh. Many, many players deserved the boot before the lad.

A month is a long time in forum opinions I guess... :cautious:

Nothing against the lad, but I've seen thousands of kids with more talent & potential than him. He really is nothing special.

40 mil.

FORTY MILLION POUNDS.

Nice kid, has the odd good moment. But he's so not that top young talent with plenty potential some still think he is. Nowhere near. You see 20 kids in the Champo week in week out that are much better than Archie.

He's a very, very average player.

Glad you didn't stick the boot into the kid, though. :D

100%. hes looking more sure of himself now, the kid has good ability already, hes gonna be a star im sure of it.

still think hes a box to box midfielder, same as bergvall. gray can do competent jobs at rb and cb tho which is always valuable.

I want him to get a run under a manager that coaches the team properly

Where everyone knows their job, where the principles are clear, where the moves/triangles etc are established

Let him have a run in a defined, consistent role, in a team that actually has a plan to progress the ball etc - I think he could suddenly look the real deal

I liked how in the first half vs City he went eye to eye with Rodri- and looked bigger than him!

I really appreciate Gray and his smart play. Nice little clever bits of footwork too- gets him out of tight jams on the sidelines quite frequently.

Box to box.... thank, you so much... that phrase has been on the tip of my tongue for months and for the life of me, I couldn;t remember it... So thank you...

I always considered Bents, being box to box, did it very well under Conte, and he was the man that linked the team together, but that injury just ruined him, he is not the same player and has become a liability.

yea bentancur is a liability now, hes a weak link.

One of our best players this season. Really seeing the fruits of Ange developing him all last season now.

So many on here were writing him off as an 18 year old lad playing out of position in the PL.

If I look at the team tonight

Vic - can't recall him making a save
Gray - he tried
Dragusin - Byfield should play v Scum
VDV - looked off his game
Spence - played in first gear
Sarr - zero impact on the game
Gallagher - PL not La Liga, looks unfit
Bissouma - might as well play with 10
Odobert - no end product then injured
Simons - back to early season Simons
Solanke - played on the periphery

Subs
Tel - struggled
Palhinha - impact sub who made no impact
RKM - send him back to PSG

Frank - you are the weakest link, goodbye

19 years old and just keeps getting better.

Wonder what his ceiling is? Has no obvious elite attributes other than he's just getting the job done every week wherever he's put.

Good lad

Thought he really came of age last night...
Deserved a better result, but so pleased for him to get the goal and pretty much run that side of the pitch... He did everything and more asked of him ...I say more, as I assume Frank didn't ask him to score, as that would ruin the -0.01 xG he had planned out on his little white board... He can take that with him n'all!

Yes, so disappointing he's not single-handedly carrying this team.

Seriously, what are you expecting out of him? Kid is 19. Almost the entire squad we have was not at his level at 19.

Just endless complaining.
Oh I’m sorry I’m not gassing up a kid who wouldn’t stand out or actually play for any decent team. He’s yet another generational talent, it’s amazing how many of them we are lucky to have. I should act like we’ve found the new Gerrard just to fit in with the other clueless muppets in this fanbase.
