Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Another 8 performances like last night and he could sneak into the World Cup squad reckoning. If I’m Tudor that’s what I’m saying to him. It’s not like we’ve loads of players to play in central midfield.

I thought he was excellent last night. All the hallmarks of how Tudor wants the team to play shone in Gray’s performance. On the front foot and aggressive but with lots of quality in his play. Best I’ve seen him for us. I’ve never been overly impressed by Gray but Tudor is exactly the type of manager that will get the best out of him. I don’t think Archie is the type to go get it off centre backs and dictate play and decide what tempo to play at but going on last night he looks like an all action play at a high tempo box to box midfielder.
I really enjoyed his and Xavi’s performances.

Depth is fine but we have too much of the same player and not enough of what we needed.
That really does depend on how we want to play. Modern football has been dominated by having a holding midfielder, a box to box player and a 10.

If we want to play 2 in midfield then having Bergvall, Gray, Gallagher, and Sarr isn’t a bad thing.

Bissouma will be gone in the summer and hopefully Bentancur too

What's pretty clear is that whatever fans think, the various managers rate Gray.

The fact however is that Gray is in a team that have struggled for the last 2 season in the PL, so I am not yet sure how that can be interpreted.

Gray hasn't been loaned out, and seems to be well liked amongst his team mates. He reminds me of Mainoo in the way he plays the game, so that's not a bad thing if I'm correct.

That he might be considered to currently be our best midfielder is possibly a concern but if he becomes this high quality player of the future, then maybe we will see this period as the time in which the transition from potential to tangible took place.

We will see, but a match winning performance on Sunday, against Forest would go a long way into cementing the growing opinion.

They gave Bentancur a new contract, doubt hes going anywhere

Seemed to immediately pick up up Cardozo everytime they tried to build from the back. Nullifying their build up. Let to Griezman having to come deep to be playmaker.
Good tactics and obv led to a great game from him
Who? Hardly heard Cardozo's name mentioned. Archie didn't just have him in his pocket, he put him in his warm up trackie bottoms pocket and then left him under the bench. If you have a young player that has been put under immense pressure from the get go of his spurs career, being played in positions virtually unknown to him, does well, never moans, takes the abuse some gave out, just gets on with it, then gets the chance to show what he's really about and takes it with both hands and absolutely rattles it, then we have a proper wee star on our hands. Great family behind him to keep him on track as well. IMHO he's verging on captain material already. Certainly in another year. I'm struggling to find someone who has shown more captain attributes than him in the current squad. Him and Bergvall are going to be terrifying together in a year or so. Couldnt be happier for the lad.

I never once doubted Archie. He was fed to the dogs last year playing in different positions every week with different team mates. Himself and Sarr have developed quite the partnership in the last 2 games. So glad he's now won over the majority of the fans and that he's finally getting his flowers.

This kid has the potential to play in the world cup this Summer. Yes, he is that good. He is a future spurs captain. Wherever we are next season, we build our team around this kid.

Bergvall, Gray, Gallagher and Sarr are 4 decent mids, but they still profile too similarly. We need better passing in there and, ideally, more press resistance.

For the sake of squad balance we're gonna have to let at least 1, maybe 2, decent midfielders leave the club so we can actually bring in some different profiles rather than just a sea of 8s.

He's not a bad player but I think we need to sell Sarr simply to create space for a different type of midfielder. Gray and Bergvall are the better talents imo.

And yeah, goes without saying we need to sell Bentancur, not renew Palhinha and bid farewell to Bissouma.
