Player Ashley Phillips

Pace??? 👀
That’s not something I’ve normally heard associated with Phillips! Interesting and exciting if true.
From Tony Mowbray his manager at Blackburn who brought him into their first team :

www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-news-ashley-phillips-fourth-signing-b1095291.html

“He's 6ft 4in, he's fast, mobile and can pass it really well. He can use both feet, he's composed.

“Ash is just a phenomenal young boy. If you were to create a defender in the mold of how you would want one, this kid has got every attribute.”

“He’s an amazing footballer and he is going to be a mega footballer I’m pretty sure, but he’s a very young boy.

“He’s a 6’3, 6’4 magnificent cut of a guy, fast as lightning, composed with the ball, aggressive. I think this football club have a footballer on their hands and we have to manage his introduction into our team as best we can. I just brought him to give him some experience.”

I think with Dorrington at Aberdeen for the season, Phillips and Vušković might be the next in line to challenge the first team next season...
Romero, VDV, Dragusin, Phillips & Vušković mightn't be the worst combination of 5 CBs to choose from!

yeah i've heard that now would be a good time to sell Phillips because he's not mobile enough.
I'm old enough to remember when this would have been a good joke

CB with good stats, 6' 4'' tall, fast, aggressive, good passing, can use both feet etc ..... will be age 20 in June, former E u19 captain.

Lots of good attributes to be a 4th choice CB next season allowing us to move on Dragusin who has been overtaken by Danso.

Will be a List B player for uefa and u21 in PL so will not utilise a squad place which is useful (and frees up a place for other positions).

Looking forward to see him in pre-season.

Egan-Riley plays for Burnley who have phenomenal defensive stats. About 14 clean sheets in a row?

Haven't really seen Phillips this season.
Will try to catch the Watford game tomorrow at 3pm.

Blimey; he's really come on since rather average loan to plymouth

Plymouth was first loan which lasted a half season - he played a bit at Blackburn but not really that much.

He's been at Stoke all this season, and consistently rated by their fans as best CB and a top player - even though the team is not doing well - which is a good sign as in most teams a loan player and CB would be the obvious scape goats when things not going well.

love to read that sort of stuff, thanks

weve got to get back to nurturung these guys like before Poch took over

Redknapp and Sherwood were alweays underrated imo for their attitude with kids from the academy. Redknpp in particular gave loads their debuts

We were linked to that Esteve in January.

Might want to steer clear based on this data.
