Aston Villa

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Aston Villa really know how to get sponsorships !

Just signed a deal BK8 better known for its gambling and use of of scantily clad female models in their marketing campaigns regarded as as sexist and degrading by many, including Villa fans.

So a double problem ..... and not a sponsorship to be proud of ?

4 seasons ago they were in the fucking Championship. WTF are you on about?

So fucking tired of people acting like supporters have no right to be happy about anything unless they win the fucking league.

He plays for fucking Villa. They haven't finished higher than 6th in the PL in nearly 30 years. It was a great season after a lot of really shit ones recently. They're fucking happy. They pay his salary. He should shut the fuck up.

Calm down for fucks sake. Why are you blowing a fuse over Aston Villa?

They had a good season. But with the squad they have they should be challenging for a 6th or 7th placed position considering how bad Chelsea were and that Liverpool were nowhere near at the same level. They did absolutely nothing extra-ordinary. Nobody has said they can't be pleased or happy. But celebrating it like they've won the FA Cup is ridiculous.

If we got 4th place and celebrated like that I think most of us would be pretty embarassed.

Considering we've finished 4th 6/11 years, you're right. This is the highest Villa has finished in 13 years - stop pretending like they have no reason to celebrate.

Player is a cunt, no matter what, for slagging his own supporters off on social media, even if he were right. He's an ubercunt for slagging them off when he's completely wrong.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. But again, I'm not saying they shouldn't be chuffed. But celebrating on the streets should only be for when you actually win something.

Perhaps it was a delayed celebration for managing to swap Gerrard for Emery haha. In a way, that's like breaking up with Nicola Sturgeon and managing to hook up with Shania Twain the following week.

Which is why they should be celebrating. Qualifying for the ECL gives them the best chance they're going to have to actually win a trophy. They'll never win the PL or CL. The FA Cup is extremely unlikely now. The LC is unlikely, but maybe they fluke it one year. The EL is on the fringe of possibility, but it'll be tough. They'll be one of the favourites for the ECL.

Villa aren't Spurs. If we feel like we're under a mountain trying to win trophies, it's exponentially harder on them. Best season in 13 years, back and Europe, with a chance to win a trophy after being in the Championship a couple seasons ago? They have every right to be happy. And, like I said, a player should never be slagging off his own supporters on social media for celebrating.

Was he actually slagging them off though? He just muttered a few words from a thought that was obviously going on in his head at such a moment. He seemed to be taken by surprise more than anything else.

Villa are still a really big club regardless of their recent history. They have history, a big fan base and now have some very good players.

I certainly think of Villa as a big club. Big fan base and one of the historical clubs that helped make the sport so popular.
History and current reality are 2 different things.

Historically Villa are bigger than City, but you're having a laugh trying to make that case in the present day.

The reality is that this was the best season Villa has had in 13 years, and they haven't finished higher than 6th since 96/97.

The last time they had a credibly superior season than this one was 95/96 when they ran 4th and won the League Cup.

If you consider that you have to be around 8 to truly cement memories of joy supporting a football club (debatable but reasonable), then no one under the age of 35 has ever experienced a credibly superior Aston Villa season.

Again...fucking stupid to pretend like they didn't have cause for exuberance.

This thread is quiet. I reckon that Villa may be 5th or 6th this year.

Why should I care? I have a soft spot for Villa. I was born in Birmingham. My late brother was a Villa fan. I like Villa Park. Anyway, I was glad to see Villa recover from relegation blah last season, and hope they do well this season, but not against Spurs, obviously.

6th seems fair looking at their results so far. And Emery is a quality manager who'll keep them competitive.

It's good for the league that the fight for the European places is tough. Even if we as Spurs fans may not enjoy it.
