Away support in Home section

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I remember 1000 Spurs in the (standing) North Bank every year , giving a good account of themselves.

Ummm, whilst I can't condone football violence, I do look back at those days with warmth in my heart. Wrong I know, but as a kid I found the buzz amazing. What's more, we could sing what we wanted without the fear for the political correctness police throwing us out.

This match never went to general sale and therefore it was members that sold the tickets. I can understand someone having a mate that say supports another team and taking him with him to watch Spurs play that team but normally out of respect the celebration would be muted and no colours worn. However selling tickets to Spanish supporters is not on and the stewards should be passing on ticket numbers to the club to act on. However do the club just want to maximise ticket sales or suspend membership for those caught selling tickets to away supporters.

Wembley is not home and is the national stadium so it’s not that weird to be fair.
There was a couple sitting a couple of rows in front of us last night but they never enjoyed the night that is for sure. They were made to feel uneasy and clapped twice maximum when they scored.

Won’t happen at the new WHL that is for sure.
yeah. we have to consider that at Wembley there is the whole guest tickets and restricted general sale thing going on, more corporate style packages and so on

I remember a Northern Ireland game against the Republic of Ireland at the height of the troubles in 1988...They scored and four guys celebrated the goal wildly...I think the only thing that saved them was that it was disallowed. So they were simultaneously laughed at and threatened with a quick death...before they were rescued by the police who were crawling all over the place...

It’s also pretty plausible that people just joined up as members in order to get tickets?

I have been in plenty of home ends to watch Spurs but I sit on my hands and show a bit of respect.

I am.

In seriousness though, as @NutterNaylor says, it's not a problem if you show respect. If you don't show respect, then you can't complain about what happens.

I agree it's annoying but we have all done it haven't we? I've done it several times myself, I even sat on the north bank at Highbury once. It was 0-0 and managed to keep my mouth shut.

It was always going to be difficult to control at Wembley with so many seats going on general sale. At least it shouldn't happen as much at NWHL with 40000 season ticket holders and no doubt very few general sales after members have got their hands on the rest.

While I agree with the top two quotes in principle I have to admit I managed to make it to Utd away in the home section and I celebrated and even sang along at times.

Tbf, if I'd got grief I'd of accepted it. I was massively suprised I didn't get any real trouble at all.

Stewards at OT must be crap as well I didn't get warned to be quiet or anything.

Meh, I'm 33 , not in the bet of health although not in a physically obvious way, and am willing to accept what comes.

A couple of the people in the group I was actually sat with are pretty heavy though and possibly well known. Probably a massive reason tbf.

Freudlyuchenko Freudlyuchenko and I sat until the stewards kicked us out, and the number of Barcelona fans unzipping their jackets to reveal a Barca shirt and taking a souvenir picture of Wembley drove me insane.

Look, I can understand someone deciding to sit in the home end because they couldn't get away tickets and wanted to watch their beloved Messi - but wearing your Barca shirt under your clothes is fucking stupid and I have no sympathy if a drunken spurs fan doesn't take kindly to it. The Liverpool fans with their shirts hidden away in the home end a couple of weeks ago also drove me mad.

I think some clubs are pretty savvy when they know that away fans will be buying home tickets.

For example when we played Colchester in the cup a few years back. I bought a home end ticket, however, i had to purchase a ticket for their following game also to get the ticket for the Spurs game. I think Colchester United's average attendance is 3000 ish so they knew what would happen and scored some extra £££'s. Very sensible thing to do for a lower league team. I didn't mind....I didn't go to the next game though.

There's probably a whole set of touts who have upgraded membership as a simple business expense, but not having general sale will reduce the problem somewhat

The liverpool game was beyond ridiculous. There were more liverpool fans in my block than spurs. Openly celebrating and then turning round and taking the piss (me and my mate seemed to be the only spurs in there trying to make a noise). I am never going back to Wembley under any circumstance.

I was in the home end at the Bernabeau but we were polite and chatted to the locals. Not having any respect is not on.
