Would we be better off in 2013/14 with or without Baldini

So this whole thread is based around pure assumption of what Baldini has or has not been doing? Isn't the reality that we both don't actually know how many of our signings were Baldini's and, what's more, Lamela is the only player I am aware of that came from Baldini's former club. As others have said, there is no reason he and others won't come into form, and, at the end of the day, it's Levy who hired Baldini and pays his wages anyway. So silliness all round in this thread me thinks.

Fuck's sake. This place sometimes. :paulinhobored:

If we didn't sign players who had no experience in the PL we'd be without; Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Dawson, Vertonghen, Chiriches, BAE, Sandro, Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli...and for posterity, you can add the likes of Berbatov and Modric too.

Yeah but all of the ones with no PL experience he brought in at once...and they were slung together expected to gel and adapt to the pace in the first half of the season - Just appeared very naive to me.

AVb didn't want half those players. Most were Baldini.

At the end of the day, he's been proven wrong to drop Eriksen, and I guess if Rose never got injured, we would hardly have seen Vlad either....

Chadli, he picked from the off, and played well, and he constantly defended Lamela to the hilt.

If it was the signings that made his system such a shambles, Id really love to know who AVB wanted, if the implication is that he didnt get who he asked for..

He wanted Moutinho & Hulk his old Porto lot. I just think that it's £110m - at least half of that couldve been better spent by FB. That's what Im judging him on.

I will aways defend AVB over the farcical attempted signing of Moutinho....we knew he was willing to come as early as July, but yep, Levy wanted him for 3 quid and didnt bother to check who actually "owned" the guy.

I dont see what Hulk, at 80M would give us that Ade isnt to be honest....?

Also, dropping players because you are in a huff is not the thing to do. He didnt pick the strongest sides he could have, and if he cant make it work with the talent in this squad, then he really is not that good a manager.

Not to mention a young Welsh left back that had no top flight experience. Whatever became of him?

Indeed...guess who forgot Southampton were still in the Championship when we signed him? :avbfacepalm:

Going back to the OP for a moment...

And his disruptive influence is now threatening to get in the way of Sherwood's end to the season. I know it is press talk, but has supposedly been in contact with Cesare Prandelli about becoming manager.

Do you think Baldini is jetting around arbitrarily trying to sign managers because, as far as he's concerned Tim will go, or if he is trying to sign a manager, do you think he's is doing what Levy has asked him to do?

I must say that I find the on-going debate over the DoF role in England to be especially interesting and curious, if primarily because American sports teams operate under a similar model and it has never been a problem.

If everybody involved just bucked up and got on with doing their jobs instead of obsessing over internal club politics then it wouldn't be a problem, but so much of the drama regarding the DoF is self-fulfilling prophecy.

And yet AVB knew that both Moutinho and Hulk were completely unattainable.....the boat for Moutinho sailed in summer 2012 when his agent and Porto played silly buggers at the last minute and tried to put one over on Levy.

Zenit's asking price for Hulk and buy out clause simply don't match the players ability. Lewis ain't pulling out the cheque book for that one.

This is Stabwood's last gasp effort to get the job full time. Cuckoo trying to kick the last bird out of the nest. Not going to work this time. I think a bigger bird lands in the summer.
