Player Ben Davies

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Good solid pro, no baggage or shite does what he’s asked to do and sure he’ll know himself what his limitations are and doesn’t/hasn’t let us down.

Given the length of service, his thread speaks volumes. We have had longer match threads!!!
It shows what many say. He’s quiet and does a job when asked.
Total pro.
Remains a very reliable back up and just gets on with his job without commotion.
Doesn’t bitch or run crying to a gobshite agent.
A lot of players would do well to study his career with us.
He is really what all professional footballers should use as their benchmark of hot to behave on and off the pitch.

I almost feel we don't deserve Benny Davies.
Trusted to play under every manager we've had during his time.
Always ready to pitch in when needed. Never kicks up a fuss.

And in process he has racked up 336 games for us.
That is ~ 100 more than either Rose or Walker. Also more than Vertonghen.

I know his contract runs up next summer, but I do expect us to take an option to prolong it.
Not a starting player in this system and could be improved upon, but at the same time can help with two positions. I'd quite honestly like him to get a chance in EL as the LWB. I know he is not the most explosive of players, but he might surprise a few, his passing and ball control are quite good actually.

Having him in the squad as a utility player, very useful. Having him in the squad as an influence on the younger players, as a non-captain captain, that's huge. I'm sure they all look up to him as the guide, as the professional guy he is.

I do hope he transitions into a coach for us.

Do we have an option to extend?

I assumed that because his contract runs out next year, we were possibly allowing him to leave on a free for his long service.

Personally I think we should extend or offer him another year contract as he clearly still has something to offer.

I would go as far to say that he is our most experienced player, and the one who I would class as a leader. His experiences with Wales must have helped him build up a presence. Shame about his age, plus the obvious fact he wasn’t top top level.

But given how much youth we have going, as well as being a very useful squad member, I would hope he gives something more back in terms of being one of the most senior players we have.

I am not aware that we would have.

I was more thinking in lines of negotiations - we would make an offer and Benny would accept the offer. Not taking up already set option in the contract.

I am not sure he would want to leave. If he does, I mean I'd be OK with that too.
But he's been here for decade and he is not going to a bigger club at this stage of his career. So basically down to him and his preferences rly :)

I was thinking it maybe the club looking for a younger, faster option as opposed to Daddy Davies wanting out.

I think he’s still got enough to offer to be worth keeping.
