Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When Sarr's shot got saved he was the first one to react by immediately crashing the back post and getting a touch on the ball putting it across the goal.

Unfortunately no one else had the instinct to do that and attack the box.

Brennan on paper is physically a monster, tall. leggy, i don't understand how someone of his stature is so fucking weak
Is he? 6'1" isn't short but he's one of the leat imposing players on the pitch.

It's his mentality on the pitch that drives me nuts. A faux-luxury player without the broader ability or effort to excuse his deficiencies.

One half-decent run and a few tackles against Everton is basically the lowest bar you can set for a non-elite winger. Compared to Kudus, who hasn't bagged his numbers (yet) but puts in 50x the effort and actively works to make things happen.

Get rid.

I'm ok with him playing alongside Kudus like against Everton. He can provide width, stretch the play, be a threat in behind and track back.

This takes pressure of Kudus who can focus more on attacking and be less likely to be doubled up on because defenders have to keep an eye on Johnson's runs as well.

Yeah he's not a good footballer but in this role he doesn't really have to be.

He’s about as threatening as a sausage dog.

you were saying ?

I've rarely seen a player so devoid of heart , will and physicality as this bloke .
He literally must have heart palpitations when someone passes the ball to him .
I wonder if he has any passion for playing the game , he certainly doesn't show it .

I genuinely do not understand who scouted him and why the decision was made to sign him.

It was obvious from his first few performances, that his technical ability is on the floor and he has huge technical deficiences. If I could see it, what were the club thinking?

He never once stood out for Forest.
It was said by the time Ange wanted him. Makes a lot of Sense given the fat fuck undestanding of football.

Being able to run in behind and attack the space is a threat.

It stretches the opposition and give them something to think about.

But he doesn’t do that. He stands up his fullback, doesn’t take them on and then passes backwards. But I worked him out very early on and it is going over old ground. Should have been sold in the summer when his value was probably as high as it will ever get but instead we did the usual thing and didn’t sell him at the correct time.

he has a clinical finish and obviously good timing to arrive in the right spot in dangerous areas but it seems thats absolutely it. I don't know what position you can play him in to maximise attributes, it's not wide right or left that's for sure.
frank might experiment with him a bit more like Everton away before he finally gives up

the only thing i can think of is the old dele position were he looks to ghost in on goal from the middle of the pitch, but he doesnt have a lick of dele's ability on the ball

He has finally started to take his fullback on. He took on Burn and got a cross in and did it at Everton.

The crosses weren’t good but the one at Everton led to the corner which led to the goal. But the crosses themselves have the ability to cause chaos in the box even if they aren’t successful.

It’s a functional role he’s playing, like I said he doesn’t need to be a good footballer to do it. And he should only play there if Kudus is playing as well otherwise there’s no point because he doesnt offer enough by himself.
