Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am very much arguing we need to sign a better winger. And I'm pretty sure the majority agree.

We desperately need to sign a first choice LW, make Odobert the backup, then have Kudus first choice on the right with Kulu his rotation/backup when he returns.

We should sell Johnson at the first opportunity while he still has a semblance of value. If we keep him he should purely be used as a specialist that we bring on when we're winning, against top teams that play a high line or against dross. He's got his uses but he's way too much of a passenger for a team with our aspirations.

And that is exactly what I said.
No one is arguing that improvement is needed and that we need better starting winger than Johnson.

Have a rest and do not argue with yourself mate :D .

Brennan Johnson has played over 60 mins in 3 league games this season and we've won all 3 of them. Maybe its a lucky coincidence for him, but I genuinely believe his style of play (constantly running in behind) creates space for other players to play better. He did a very good job at the weekend tracking back and doubling up on Grealish. He also got alot of crosses into the box and won a few corners and throws. Nothing special, he didn't dribble by loads of players or score a goal. But I genuinely think his presence in the team is quite underrated.

Anyway that was his first 90 mins of the season. His longest other games this season was 80 mins away to Man city (we won 2-0) and 78 mins when we beat Burnley 3-0.

I don’t think he has any presence at all and I think players don’t want to give him the ball as they know fuck all comes from it. On Sunday he done the bare minimum in working hard and to be fair he done that well but every player must work hard.

I actually liked the role he was playing against Everton.

It allowed Kudus to be more central which helped us keep possession in the middle more and progress play.

It also took pressure off Kudus because he wasn't being doubled up on anymore. And because Johnson always offers a threat in behind Everton defenders had to keep an eye on that as well.

His general play was better this game as well. He held onto the ball longer instead of just passing it backwards immediately and it helped us with our second goal. Spence played a good diagonal and he had a good touch, stayed on the ball and took his man on and beat him and the cross he played led to a corner which we scored from.

Apart from when they had their best chance to score as he was completely unaware Grealish was free a couple yards out from goal minutes into the game.

Think its unfair to expect Brennan to be covering the backpost for an open play cross. Sometimes yes but ridiculous if we are relying on him to be picking up the back post at every open play cross. The backline were all to blame there. Spence got skinned, VDV had to come across, Danso left Beto unmarked then Porro left Grealish unmarked. Once Spence got skinned and VDV came accross then they had an overload. Yes in an ideal world Brennan maybe races back and covers the back post but he shouldn't be expected to do that. The defence were at fault there. Spence got cleaned and then the other 3 panicked and lost position

I couldn’t care less because even when he does score I know he’s been rubbish and so do most fans with eyes. The guy scores 1 in 3 which is decent and does nothing else for 89 mins and you’ll call it golden.

Ok let’s see his assist record return now he’s not just forgotten how to do it. Or maybe since he hasn’t done it before spurs for club or country and hasn’t after … maaaaybe it was a fluke??

He’s had plenty of minutes. People are negative because he is a horrid player to watch and frankly a bit cowardly and lazy too. He was a bit better in that regard vs Everton but the bar is in hell.
Where did I call it "golden"??

I've said I think he can be a productive rotational player. He has limitations but I'm not a person that's so desperate to ridicule a player that I try and downgrade the importance of goals and assists lol.

Like I said, you're so blinded by hate that you questioned his goal in a 0-2 away win against Manchester City, there's literally no hope you will ever be fair in your critiquing.

Put the weirdo on ignore.

It's interesting that Frank wanted BJ @ Brentford. He must have seen something in BJ back then to want him. Has BJ really regressed that much since the forest move? Can't say I watched him much at Forest to begin with

10 passes and no dribbles from a winger in 45 minutes of football.
If that was abnormal for him you'd write it off but those graphs just highlight how poor he is and how he offers nothing at all to us
