Lol no it doesn’t. The highest valued players are goalscorers who are also very good footballers and add goals that wouldn’t be scored otherwise, not the tap in merchants.
Haaland is a goalscorer who is also an absolutely terrifying prospect for defenders. Johnson isn’t, because he’s a pussy who just pops up at the back post.
Harvey Barnes and Brennan Johnson don’t command the highest wages or fees. They don’t even start.
Most valuable player right now is probably Yamal. More ability in one of his toenails than in Brennan’s entire body & he probably scores less league goals.
LOL, yes it does.
The highest amounts of money, in transfer fees and wages, consistently go to those who scored the most goals.
History has proven that consistently.
Barnes and Johnson don't even come close to that criteria, as their goal returns are nowhere near putting them in that bracket.
What exactly are defenders "terrified" of where Haaland is concerned? Could it be that he scores a lot of goals? It's certainly not his assist ability, it's not because of his creativity or ability to control a game, an average of around 20 touches a game belies that.
He's a goalscorer and, as such, commands ridiculous wages, he's on more than De Bruyne was at his peak, and De Bruyne is arguably the best Footballer the Prem has ever seen. He's on more than double Rodri's wage, another rated as the best in the World in his position.
Salah is the highest paid player at Liverpool, Kai Havertz the highest at the scum, Lewandowski at Barca, Mbappe at RM, Vlahovic at Juve and Martinez at Milan, Dembele at PSG, the list goes on across the World.
Good strikers are paid more than their peers, consistently across the globe, because they score goals consistently. They predominantly cost more to buy because of that ability, not because they're "good Footballers as well."
You literally have pundits, who've spent their entire lives in the Football World, state that the most difficult part of the game is putting the ball in the back of the net. They weren't all strikers either.
For the record, I don't agree that it's the hardest part of the game, I think that accolade should go to proper midfielders myself, but even they only really see their value increase dramatically if they are weighing in with goals.
