“Continentals” don’t place great importance on the super cup. Put your daily mail paper down for a minute. If you ever have a chance to win it then you should go all out. It doesn’t have the same importance as it used to back in the day due to how much more exclusive European competition was back then. The fact is that the Europa is a lot easier to win than the league cup, money or no money. Last two seasons no drop down from champ lge to Europa . Also the two extra places take 2 good sides out of the Europa. Previously Newcastle would be in it this season , also Villareal who are currently top 4 in Spain. When the 15th and 17th teams in the premier league both get to the final , that says it all.
Who were the big teams we had to get past . Bodo? Or the worst United team in 50yrs.
Continentals think it’s a big competition but it really isn’t., but then they place great importance on the Super Cup.
Only reason we are interested is because of the back door to the champ lge . Any half decent prem lge team should be capable of winning it.
The Europa league is far bigger than the league cup and maybe unfortunately is slightly bigger than the FA cup due to the dirty “continentals” offering a back door route to the champions league.
We played Bodo last year because they went on a great run and knocked out Lazio in the round before us. If we played and beat lazio you wouldn’t have your englander card out would you?
