Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm torn on it

Son is our best presser (Solanke closing in), he's also still arguably our best finisher so we lose further goal threat by him missing.

However, he really does need a rest. He seems to have played consistent football for aslong as I can remember. It also means Moore is getting more and more minutes which is exciting.

I agree. By blessing I meant that he doesn't come back without being 100%.

No need to consider resting anyone as we have an International break. No point resting them so they play more International mins. Assume Son will not make it as withdrawn from International call up. Korea would never agree that if he is going to play Sunday. Starting to wonder how bad it is and if he will be out even longer. Ange talked about having to be careful about Moore so assume he will not play another game so soon. Therefore left with Werner whose finishing is becoming an embarrassment. Udombie if fit or Spence. Rest pick themselves.

This will be much tougher than MU.

It looks like Son is out, so...

Vicario
Porro, Cuti, Van de Ven, Udogie
Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison
Brennan, Solanke, Moore
I would like to see Moore in this game. If Udogie is injured i would pick Spence as left back.

Just had this email from the club, assume it's gone to everyone with a ticket. Sounds like they've fully had enough and decided it's time for a clampdown;

Dear Supporter,

Regrettably, there were sections of those who attended the away fixture at Old Trafford last weekend who took part in and/or instigated unacceptable homophobic chanting.

We should therefore like to remind fans travelling to the Amex Stadium for Sunday’s away Premier League match at Brighton & Hove Albion that the Club takes a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination - our stewards in the away end at the Amex will be wearing body cams to identify any involved so that the Club can take the strongest possible action, in line with our Sanctions & Banning Policy.

For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the Dominic Solanke chant with reference to Mikel Arteta and any use of the term ‘<removed>’ – which the Crown Prosecution Service considers a homophobic slur and hate crime.

Stewards will identify those instigating and participating in any such chants – including those covering their mouths. Abuse and intimidation towards our stewards will not be tolerated either, with bans issued where necessary.

Supporters are also reminded that the unauthorised reselling or passing on of tickets is strictly prohibited – those found to have purchased tickets and subsequently sold or passed them on to other supporters, or offered for sale, will be subject to sanctions by the Club.

We are justly proud of our superb and loyal support, home and away. However, we all have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of Tottenham Hotspur and discrimination of any kind has no place at our Club.

We look forward to seeing our fans come together again at the Amex, supporting the team in a manner that all our fans can enjoy and be a part of.

Kind regards,

Tottenham Hotspur

I really don’t understand why a Dominic Solanke chant needs to have a line in it about Arteta anyway.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy - Helmuth von Moltke (paraphrased / simplified)
I also like Mike Tyson's version. "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth".

Forster, Udogie, Spence, Gray, Sarr, Bergvall, Moore, Son, Lankshear
Why wouldn't Udogie start? He was great against United.

Bit strong from the club, but forgive my ignorance but is Arteta gay? He is married. If he is not how can it be homophobic.

EXACTLY... it doesn't need to at all!

Bit strong from the club, but forgive my ignorance but is Arteta gay? He is married. If he is not how can it be homophobic.
I think it's as much to do with us about to play Brighton... who have had PLENTY of homophobic chants hurled their way down the years...

They're probably sick of it too!

I just wonder whether Chelsea or West Ham send out similarly strongly worded emails to THEIR fans before they play US??

Plus, whether he's gay or not doesn't mean we should be able to sing about it...

...and since when was being Married to a woman sure fire proof you're straight?? That's just naive...
Elton John was married ffs... and have you not SEEN Castaway?!

As far as we know, Arteta's not gay. But the song is still being demeaning to him on the basis that he supposedly does something normally associated with gay men. It's still reinforcing the societal message that having that type of sex as a man is disgusting, emasculating, worthy of ridicule. As well as creating an inherently hostile environment for queer people, that message and attitude towards anal sex was also a strong contributing factor to the HIV-AIDs epidemic, which killed over 10,000 of us in Britain, 300,000 of us in the United States, and scores more across the globe within living memory for many who're left. And that's why it serves far more to make those of us who are queer and go to games feel unwelcome and unsafe, intentionally or otherwise, than it does to actually have a go at that cunt!

If a comparison helps, we would hopefully all recognise the awful ditties about Auschwitz, foreskins and "fucking Yids" as antisemitic, even if and when they're targeted at a group of Spurs fans who are not in fact Jewish - and while I do not personally think this is on quite the same level of horror as that, the same principle still applies. Mikel Arteta does not have to personally be gay or experience homophobia for the chant to be deeply homophobic in nature.

(Apologies if this is strongly worded - not intended to have a go at you personally at all - I just wanted to try and express the depth of feeling around this chant and why we deem it far beyond the pale)

It'll be interesting to see how the club proves that people are singing homophobic lyrics when they've got scarves over their mouths.

I'm not condoning it, by the way - I think it's peurile.

And while I'm at it - 'unacceptable homophobic chanting' ??? - I suppose the fans will have to be content with just singing the acceptable homophobic stuff then, won't they?

If the club could actually fucking police this properly too then it might be easier to get an away ticket with loyalty points etc.
