Thing is this, at least in my opinion...
I don't particularly like the chant, don't consider it a "hate crime" or particularly offensive though. That's just me, loads of people enjoy "taking it up the arse", fine by me. I don't regard it as an insult in the slightest, but I know it is (remember the Beckham insults about his wife?). Go figure.
That said, people need to be more savvy. There's PLENTY to hate on regards Lego Man, him enjoying anal penetration would be pretty much at the end of that list.
And in any event, we weren't playing the Islington Nomads, it was irrelevant. I hate how we have to reference them so much - for example, our greatest defender this century, an icon of the club, never had a song that didn't reference the Holloway Travelling Community or Chelsea, despite his surname being King, which clearly led itself to numerous Hymns of Praise just for him.
Insults are weird, linguistically speaking. They almost never bear a direct relationship with reality. A large number - most maybe - will have enjoyed anal sex with willing partners, great I say, so have I. Hurrah for our partners in these endeavours I'd say. We have no idea if Mikel Arteta does (passively that is), and, like I say, if he does it's fine with me.
In short, he's a fucking android, a freak, surely there's plenty of material there without potentially offending folk?

The thing about Werner, and in comparison to those long previous seasons, normally I'd tend to agree with you. But it's not like he's become a worse player, he hasn't aged and lost a step or anything. He still creates chances at a high rate...he just inexplicably botches them every single time.
It's a mental thing. He gets 1v1 with the keeper too often for it to be anything else. Just such a weird case, a player who has forgotten how to finish.

The best strikers will always say that the minute you start to question which side to go you are doomed. Being a clinical striker is instinctive.
I keep re-living mikey moore's cross to Werner... I sincerely hope he doesn't just start playing candy crush as soon as he gets on the plane (as they said on the podcast). He needs to be re-living that horror show, thinking of all the other ways he could have tried to finish instead. What he did was utter rubbish, and most error-prone. Just use the right and chip/curl it over, or slide it around, or use the left and curl it that side. If I can fucking do it, then he certainly should be able. I know it's a confidence thing, but ignoring the problem isn't making it go away.
I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means, but if it DOES mean that, it's fine - not a problem, with me at least. You do what you like. Who am I to judge?
