Yes but we know Spurs have a large element of Jewish supporters so we know those chants are antisemitic . We don't know that the song which mentions Arteta taking it up the ass is referring to homosexuals. Maybe he likes to be pegged up the ass by a woman. There's nothing about Atreta that is gay, so taking something up the ass in general isn't necessarily a gay act. I bet lots of hetrosexual people enjoy anal play.
You've made a false comparison.
Thing is this, at least in my opinion...
I don't particularly like the chant, don't consider it a "hate crime" or particularly offensive though. That's just me, loads of people enjoy "taking it up the arse", fine by me. I don't regard it as an insult in the slightest, but I know it is (remember the Beckham insults about his wife?). Go figure.
That said, people need to be more savvy. There's PLENTY to hate on regards Lego Man, him enjoying anal penetration would be pretty much at the end of that list.
And in any event, we weren't playing the Islington Nomads, it was irrelevant. I hate how we have to reference them so much - for example, our greatest defender this century, an icon of the club, never had a song that didn't reference the Holloway Travelling Community or Chelsea, despite his surname being King, which clearly led itself to numerous Hymns of Praise just for him.
Insults are weird, linguistically speaking. They almost never bear a direct relationship with reality. A large number - most maybe - will have enjoyed anal sex with willing partners, great I say, so have I. Hurrah for our partners in these endeavours I'd say. We have no idea if Mikel Arteta does (passively that is), and, like I say, if he does it's fine with me.
In short, he's a fucking android, a freak, surely there's plenty of material there without potentially offending folk?
Off the top my head...
Mikel Arteta, you are a Thunderbird
Mikel Arteta, you are fucking turd,
Mikel Arteta, you wish you were human too.
Not great I know, the Thunderbirds were heroes, fighting in their limited puppet way to saving the world, but I'm sure we can do better than "taking it up the arse".
