Competition Carabao Cup

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Highfield Rd LC 95 (seats - ooh) and Div1 86 (terraces, shit)

LC 95 Durie was through on goal and stopped because he thought he'd been given offside. Summed him up, there was usually something that stopped him scoring. I thought it was a very bad buy at the time too.

Apparently they were called Singers FC for the first 15 years of their existence. That had me in stitches.

Could have been worse I suppose, it could have been Coventry Talbot.

They should be extremely grateful to Spurs for letting them win the FA Cup in 1987 (their only trophy) otherwise their entire 141 year existence would have been pointless.

If it wasn't for Spurs noone would have ever heard of them.

I hate them. They ruined a perfectly good Monty Python sketch.

Cup tie away to championship opposition

Hello darkness my old friend

Haha yep. Away results in general have been diabolical recently but there are some absolute shockers in the cups over the last few years.

23/24 - went out on penalties away to Fulham in our first Carabao Cup match

22/23 - lost 1-0 away to Sheffield United’s reserves in the FA Cup, lost 2-0 away to Forest in the Carabao Cup

21/22 - lost 1-0 away to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup

20/21 - lost 5-4 away at Everton in the FA Cup

My cup overfloweth with optimism now.

Loved going to Highfield Road as it was a good old school dump of a ground. Had some good victories there in the 90s as well as some traumatic losses. New ground looks as plain and uninspiring as any I’ve seen across the football leagues. Coventry are a noisy bunch so should be fun.

It's amusing when these opposition fans try and give us 'bantz'. They don't realise more Spurs fans hate Spurs than they do. 🤣

Indeed.

It's also quite laughable that most of these cunts that give us 'bantz' last won something longer ago than we did.

Granted, Coventry beat us in the '87 cup final but since then they've gone to almost oblivion, regular whipping boys any time they are in the Premier League and languish in the championship. Like seriously, fuck off.

Oh I dunno

This was quite a memorable away strip

I think you'll find that you've confused the 95/96 league cup tie with the 91/92 league cup tie. Durie was long gone by 1995. 95/96 was Sheringham and Armstrong.

I agree that Durie was a bad buy. In the same summer, for less money, we could have got Peter Beardsley from Liverpool who paired very effectively with Lineker for England.

There are a lot worse fans about than Cov.
See Leicester City for details.

Or Derby when they used to play at the Baseball Ground

Their ‘end’ was along the side!
Very lively especially at half time when Plod opened the gates on either side for toilet access when I was there once

Plod genuinely seemed to be surprised when it kicked off and continued for most of the second half

Chivers and McFarland had a few confrontations too!

Shithole of an area

Perfect tie for us, if we’re taking it seriously then we win.

If we don’t care, dick around, rotate too much then they are just about good enough to knock us out and at least then I will know early doors we aren’t serious about the domestic cups again and will contain my last shred of hope to the Europa.

Given the controversy around European clubs getting "easier" draws, I sort of want to see the "easy team" do well.

If the FA/PL want to help English teams in Europe, give us a bye for another round, or better still, just reduce fixture pile up altogether. Some foreign leagues give teams a league game off before or after a big European game. That's fairer than keeping all the European teams apart in a cup draw at the expensive of other teams hoping for a longer run in the cup.
