Combatting racism in football

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The account is almost certainly a bot. Getting rid of bots will be a huge improvement that the previous ownership didn't give a fuck about. Musk asked them for the data on it and the first acquisition fell through.

Musk has allowed bots to run absolutely riot. The amount of bots on X right now is absolute insanity.

He has done nothing whatsoever to combat it and, in my opinion, happily allows them if they suit his agenda.

That's nothing, I turned on BBC1 just now for MOTD, and wondered why Micah Richards is currently singing at the service of remembrance at the Albert Hall!

My comment was about racist bots, not sure there's been an increase of that, if anything a decrease. Silly spam/scam profiles are still there unfortunately. The readers fact check function is extremely successful and helpful imo.

Nah, still so many racist bots it's unreal. Maybe not on football twitter but it's still rife with racism, antisemitism, anti muslim.

Or the world is just full of cunts.

So probably a little column a little column b

Dynamo Kyiv stadium chief suggests segregating black fans ‘to combat racism’

A Ukrainian stadium director has proposed to combat racism on the terraces by segregating black supporters to avoid the scenes witnessed at Dynamo Kyiv’s recent Champions League draw with Chelsea.

Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Dynamo Kyiv, who are facing thee charges including one of racist behaviour by supporters at the Olympic Stadium. Footage of an apparent attack on four black fans was obtained by the anti-discrimination network Fare, and passed to Uefa’s disciplinary body.

And the director of Dynamo’s Olympic Stadium, Volodimir Spilchenko, has suggested that one of the potential solutions is to have a “black sector” in the ground.

“We are trying, maybe, to make a separate sector [for black fans] in order to avoid racism,” said Spilchecko in an interview reported by the Washington Post. Spilchenko also revealed that rather than coming up with the idea himself, it was proposed to him by a journalist, to which he replied: “We’ll probably listen to your offer.”

Piara Powar, executive director of Fare, told the Guardian of the footage during the Chelsea match: “This terrible incident reflects many of the continuing realities of football in central and eastern Europe. A report has been made to Uefa, who have regulatory responsibility for the match, and we will be lobbying for the strongest sanctions.”

"We are trying, maybe, to make a separate sector [for black fans] in order to avoid racism,” What a fucking plumb! Does he not realise the irony in this comment. Great idea! Lets return to the 1950's

Bots proliferate when people click on them, I ignore that stuff. Its AI, not lots of humans being racist. Twitter is a mirror of all sides of humanity. Plenty of people being called white trailer redneck trash atm. So yes, all columns.

A blacks only section and a whites only section. What time are the buses?

I remember listening to Les Ferdinand talking about his role at QPR as dof and how whenever he attended the directors lounge, at any English football club, he was often the only black person in there.

Apartheid is still alive and kicking in the boardroom's of an industry where black players are disproportionately represented by virtue of their talent. It is a similar story in respect of referees, coaches and managers. Opportunity in these areas is seemingly 'impossible'.

Racist chanting in English football stadiums still rears it's head from time to time but anyone who attended matches in the 70's and 80's will confirm that the problems we have now are nowhere near the situation then. Racism and descrimination is unnacceptable anywhere and modern supporters seem to have upped their game. Perhaps English football needs to start from the top down?

If I were a black man my dream would be to see a cartel of former black players buy an English football club, say Blackpool or Blackburn, and fill every employment opportunity within that club with a black person. I suspect that a revolution in football may occur overnight if this were to happen.

Imagine Blackpool, playing in front of a crowd of black supporters, with a team of black footballers, who all have black agents, at a stadium where from the kit man to the tea lady every member of staff was black and the only businesses that got sponsorship deals were owned exclusively by black people. Imagine an all black board of directors, with an equal split of men and women, presiding over a project like this.

That would kick racism out of football a lot quicker than the lip service and excuses offered at the moment by the governing bodies.

I watched Malcolm X on prime yesterday.

That man was right about a lot of things.

Orange would indeed be the new black.
