Looks like Souness, Lawrenson & Vinnie Jones (2, 3 & 4).
According to the reddit thread: Sjaak Troost, Coen Moulijn, Ben Wijnstekers and Cor Veldhoen. Legendary Feyenoord players during the 60s-70s who turned down big money offers from the likes of Barcelona (in Moulin's case) to stay put with Feyer and compete against those big clubs instead. During Feyenoord's golden era.

Moulijn is to Feyenoord what Cruyff is to Ajax.

The fact they have to reach that far back to find good examples is a sad indictment of humanity.

But I appreciate the slight, nonetheless.

There's a lot of things going on that have led to where we are with City. Some of them were absolutely inevitable IMO.

Pep is somewhat like Poch, where his success is built on players doing exactly what he wants, non stop, for 90 minutes game after game, week after week.
To do that, players need to be fit enough and young enough to do it without questioning it.
This current squad isn't overly endowed with those players. Too many of them are 27+ and lack the motivation as well as the youth and fitness.
Ordinarily, he would be able to just recycle the squad as and when players tip over the edge. If they're not 100% committed or not able to perform, they're sold without much fuss.

So the question is, why haven't they done that?
Is it the 115 charges making them pull back on the spending for once?
Is it the departed Txikiwhatshisname that has saddled Pep with wordies like Kalvin Phillips and Nunes that has left them woefully under powered now?

I always saw an end to Pep at City. I had assumed though that he would just let his contract run down and then have a year off. I never saw him signing a 2 year deal in the middle of the crisis.
