With the money invested, anything less than a credible title challenge is a failure but the media will celebrate their eventual 3rd place finish 12 points off the pace as a massive accomplishment over the previous season's 4th place finish.

City will probably be 12 points ahead of Liverpool by the time it is Christmas, might get reduced to 8 in the end, but I'm confident at least City will finish above Liverpool. I think Liverpool will finish 3rd of 4th next season.

Leicester won the league coz everyone else was shit that year. Salah broke record for most goals in a season more than Shearer , Henry, Kane has ever scored. Might be a slight difference.

We weren't shit that year, but still failed to get the better of them (in terms of both head to head and league table)... Sadly. Wasn't a vintage season for the rich teams, but there was a bit more to it than you make out... Even if the fairytale left a lot of their (and our!) oppo blinkered, Mahrez & Vardy had insane momentum and the rest were stubborn as fuck.

But yeh, Leicester.... :pochunimpressed:

It was an amazing achievement for Leicester, great to watch for the neutral and will never be repeated, but I think the referees and others got caught up in the moment and gave them a lot. I watched a few of their matches towards the end of the season and was shocked that so much pulling and pushing by Morgan and Huth in the box (especially grappling from corners) went unpunished when usually penalties would be given against it. If the laws of the game had been strictly applied then a few of the 1-0 wins might have been draws or defeats and then who knows? Still, no used crying over spilt milk and we're far ahead of them now.

Also, going to stick my neck out and say Salah won't be as good next season. He's quality and will score goals but we've seen a way to play against him in the last few months has emerged - bully him.

I think we can expect a saltier than ever season from their lot if so.... I mean, off the back of the CL if he's getting ruffed up every week they'll be all over it faster than you can say "petition".

I don't necessarily think you have to snap him in half like Ramos tried to do, he's just quite small and slight - definitely can be pushed about.
