It's an old Slavic name, with variants among Czechs, Slovaks, etc. Some Slav, somewhere, probably spells it that way. According to Wikipedia (where I got the IPA transcription in the first place), in Czech it's "Vojtěch" but pronounced "VOY-sek" (basically).frontwheel said:
