I'm massively worried but I live in hope that with no forward and no Gabriel their luck will run out eventually. Playing 1st leg at home is huge for then... they will hope to do what they did to Real and basically kill the tie but PSG will be coming in fresh as they have already won their league so they will also have the luxury of resting players.

Think Inter Milan are winning it this season but the expectation has been set. Something Jamie Carragher said last night that even if they don't win or get to the final the marker has been decided internally that QF/SF's are the minimum that the club should be expecting to get and that once that belief is there and they're able to put it into practice eventually they'll get over the line and win the thing and I think that's the biggest downer, just like I expect them to win the PL soon maybe not even next year but by being about at the top for long enough things will eventually fall in place.

Unfortunately we had and continue to have owners that can only be described as footballing criminals who were absolutely chuffed with CL money so much so that they saw any potential additional outlay as being unnecessarily eating into their profits.

Look at the 22/23 season where Woolwich made an unexpected run at the title, that winter window their board was ready to spend big money to get it over the line and even when Mudryk went Chelsea they moved quickly to sign Trossard, it's about sensing the moments and striking while the iron is hot and our owners are incapable of that.

Partey missing for the first leg is huge especially if Jorginho is out. They've no other natural 6 as Rice is much more effective in the 8 and struggles with taking the ball on the spin when trying to build out as a 6.So they'll probably have to try something like Merino deeper or else moving Lewis Skelly into the 6 and playing Califiori at left back. Partey is a massive loss. They'll struggle to win that home game without him.

Hopefully Saka or Sailba get injured in the mean time too. I get the feeling lego head will still play a strong team in the league most games so that could hopefully backfire.

I'd honestly stop watching football if them rats won that. I'd move on to something else. Wipe my hands with football completely. Just accept that the football Gods hate me and nothing good will ever come from me following this sport.

agree, we had a window. the season we finished 2nd and the criminals absolutely fucked it and let the club decline because the money was rolling in

We were a better team than Liverpool and Man City at the time which feels incredible to think now. We could easily have signed any of Alisson, Van Dijk, Mane, Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, etc.. But we stood still and fell miles behind!
too busy trying to haggle Aston villa down to 15 mill for Jack Grealish because they were in administration instead of spending a solid amount of money to improve the squad and try and push on from 2nd to 1st

fucking scumbag lizards

yeah might never get the chance to do it again. Feels like we are light years away now. Literally hoping young prospects like Gray, Bergval, Moore become the new Kane/Alli/Son. That Poch team we created in 15/16 was a once off. You'll never see that again without spending big money

yep

would seem highly unlikely to end up with 4 world class generational young talents developed together again like Walker, Son, Dele and Kane.
That's sir alex man united level stuff

Thr owners.

Who aside from Rice have Woolwich spent more on, who has done big things that we spent on Solanke?

It's a fallacy much of this tripe, with the single biggest determinant or failure being the managers we keep acquiring

And right now, that gap has widened but it's too easy to say expenditure and owners as opposed to a flawed strategy.

For this season, it will take some team to beat them, although Real were at best average, with Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius provably the least potent they have ever been, which of course has to be partly attributed to that lot's competence.

It's really sickening to see.

Partey being out the first leg is big. Putting aside the aspects we know about he is a great footballer and top draw 6, as important as Rice, Saliba or Saka for them.

Surely Woolwich have the luxury of resting players as well, they aren't catching Liverpool and aren't dropping out of the top 4 , so nothing to play for in the league...🤢 The gloating this morning has been bad enough.. surely the unspeakable cannot happen..🙏🙏🙏..

arsenals wage structure allows them just to sign a better class of player. Solanke cost us 65 mill but is on 90k pw

manager plays a massive role for sure, but there's only so much great managers can do with Solankes, richarlisons, your odoberts, and your brennan johnsons no matter how much it costs to prise them out of their relegation material clubs

Wages are the most difficult part of PSR/FFP etc. clubs maybe able to flog off an asset for an extortionate fee to Saudi but they can't fix the wage issue as easily, it's why Villa are still struggling. I was listening to David Ornstein a few months back explaining that Woolwich didn't sign Nico Williams last summer because of his wages even though he was ready to come, they've set aside a long term goal of getting the likes of Saka and Saliba to sign extensions to they know they have to save those big contracts for them.

Also being in bigger competitions naturally raises your ceiling in how much you can offer in wages.

that would be all well and good if we didnt know that we had massive room for higher wages based on income.
