I say it through gritted teeth but Woolwich have a fantastic squad now. If Arteta fails this season he has absolutely no one else to blame. Injuries are little excuse for most teams anyway but no excuse now for Arteta. It’s actually amazing how poorly they play football given the squad depth. It’s like he wants to play horrible quality football and 1-0 every game.

Great squad, but it looks like a clear runner-up to Liverpool—especially after the Isak signing.

Liverpool have a better first 11 but they are very reliant on VVD and a few others being fit. Woolwich have similar quality in every spot so can sustain more ìnjuries.

Isak and Guehi however are great signings. I will probably get mobbed but Guehi is for me better than Saliba, Romero, VDV, Gabriel. He is a complete CB. Based on form I think only VVD in the league is better and Liverpool will have both of them as the CB’s which is scary.

Yup, they have the best squad in the league IMO but Arteta is holding them back - they have quality attackers but he's insistent on playing cautious football, they could have taken the game to Liverpool yesterday but instead he went with 3 DM's.

They have excellent depth; but how many of their players get into the EPL best XI?

Saka? (Better than Salah?)
Gabriel and/or Saliba?

Problem is Isak and Guehi are incredible footballers. One makes Liverpool far more solid and the other makes Liverpool far more lethal. Yesterday was Woolwich's best chance to catch Liverpool cold minus Isak and Guehi and after some defensive issues.

I think he thinks he's coming across as being confident

Its just really fucking odd to talk smugly in an interview about Saka, Odegaard and Havertz being injured though
