I’m guessing you’re under 40, am I right? From the 1960s through to the 1990s, the Cup Winners’ Cup was most definitely a major European trophy and the second-ranked of the European trophies throughout.
None of them exist today....all 3 current comps are fairly new including the CL which replaced the European cup....the main difference being they all now follow a league format rather than a cup knockout one.
At least in that one they were playing with 10 men, no way in normal circumstances are they doing that under Wenger.
