Nonsense. Leicester failed because they couldn't afford to keep their players, because their owners suffered a lot from Covid. They gambled it all (especially in the 2nd year) in the Champions Leagur qualification but they couldn't make it. It's why players like Maddison, Tielemans etc. decided to leave, because they could've gotten better contracts at more healthy clubs.
They didn't sell anybody of note apart from Chillwell and Maguire, and they didn't even suffer their sale because they finished 5th the season after they sold them (where they completely fumbled UCL qualification).
Villa are in interesting case, because they benefited greatly from the Grealish sale. As brilliant as he was, they were able to build a squad from him. West Ham want to do the same with Declan Rice.

I don't understand why Manchester United fans are furious that we want money and a period of gardening leave?

Do they expect us to roll over and let them take a top executive from us? Especially one who will have been planning our transfer policy for the next 4-6 windows already? Plus all the plans for the overhaul of our backroom staff?

It's such rank entitlement.

When we wanted Ashworth, we approached Brighton, asked their permission to speak to him, paid compensation (£5m) and agreed to a period of gardening leave up to the end of his contract (6 months).

Why on earth would we not expect similar from them?

You should take them to the cleaners. The way it has played out in the media is classic Neil Ashton bully boy tactics.

You've obviously forgotten what it's like to be in the press's group of teams just below their elite (Utd, Liverpool, Woolwich)
