Isak is a bellend but I can’t see the point of Newcastle’s stance in keeping an unhappy player.

He could just do the footballing equivalent of quiet quitting - turn up for everything but put in minimal effort, nothing Newcastle could do in that instance

.......Not if you're expecting (hoping) someone will still pay 150m for you in 6/12 months time.

Saw this in the BBC Villa/Newcastle match report from yesterday, talking about Newcastle fans' reaction to Isak:
...the travelling support even came up with a new song for their once beloved frontman.

"We don't care about Isak, he don't care about me," the fans roared as they left the stadium. "All we care about is NUFC."
Hmmmm, new you say??

I reckon LEVY invoices them for Copyright infringment! ©®™ Sue the shit outta them for that one, AND the BBC for spreading the myth!
They're like Ed Sheeran, never had an original thought in their lives...
Except for punching horses... THEY definitely invented THAT one!

It’s not really near anywhere except Sunderland and it’s not really a “destination” in its own right.

Someone mentioned Liverpool - that’s vastly better connected to places like Manchester, north Wales and the midlands.

Nothing against Newcastle, I’ve always liked it up there but I can see why a talented 20 year old millionaire might look at it and think fuck that

Honestly, you're right but it's more about the amenities than connection to Manchester and the like. There just isn't the historical wealth that created a demand for the type of amenities that a young millionaire would want/need. I now live in the footballer bit of Cheshire and even the smaller villages have the kind of bars, boutiques and bistros that any young footballer could hope for. Plenty of McMansions, but also plenty of older houses with a goodly amount of land, for comparatively reasonable price.

There just isn't the same kind of wealth up home.

Shame like, because we've got some stunning beaches and some cracking deals on trebles and sausage rolls.
