Removing half a of the stadium was always the plan, removing it all and building a football stadium was the correct move...just not us.The political posturing now begins with Ratcliffe passing the next move to local/national government and waiting for them to come up with money to improve infrastructure around the proposed site for the stadium build , the stadium itself to be solely financed by United.
It's so reminiscent of Levy and the hollow threat to move to Stratford to encourage some infrastructure money from Haringey Council and the London mayor which eventually happened, Levy's proposal to demolish the Olympic stadium and build a new stadium more suited to football had zero chance of ever getting planning permission that's why Hammers got the lease they were happy to play in that monstrosity.
Here's Ratcliffe's hospital ball to local/national government.
He said there was no date in place for when building work on the stadium would begin, adding: "It depends how quickly the Government gets going with the regeneration programme. I think they want to get going quite quickly."
quiteFunny how all this gets announced just as protests against the owners kick off.
If I were in the govt I'd say we'll supoort you if you build another millenium stadium. Roof, 80,000 capacity. Proven. And cheap.
I'm not sure they really can support them in fairness - i.e. haven't done it for any other PL team, and this is the team with the highest revenue. If I were in the govt I'd say we'll supoort you if you build another millenium stadium. Roof, 80,000 capacity. Proven. And cheap.
Anything else on you
Thats a big old stand with a wizards hat at the back for good measure.
Not sure you would be able to see much.

TBF the governments job is to spend public money to improve infrastructure. Its not the job of a football club. The political posturing now begins with Ratcliffe passing the next move to local/national government and waiting for them to come up with money to improve infrastructure around the proposed site for the stadium build , the stadium itself to be solely financed by United.

It will be full of tourists like the Nou Camp that dont even like football but want a pic for their instagram.Honestly whats the point getting one of those nosebleed seats at the back. Might aswell watch it on tv
I agree that is the purpose of local and national governments to provide infrastructure and help in any regeneration not the football clubs but Ratcliffe is going down the line of if local/national government don't start the ball rolling with a start in regeneration, it will be their fault if we don't build the stadium, that's what it sounds like.TBF the governments job is to spend public money to improve infrastructure. Why should a football club pay for roads, train stations and public footpaths?
