As an ST old fart, I have had the best times at WHL when the atmosphere was electric and the noise was deafening. I sit in Lower Paxton these days and I hate it when I can't give vocal support because I would be the only one singing. I can't believe people get arsey because people are singing - if you don't want to sing, fair enough I suppose, but why would you want to stop others or feel threatened by them - surely we are all at the ground for the same reason - to support our team and wan them to play well. Totally agree that the supporters who go just to hurl abuse all the time should hang their heads in shame - yes, we are all entitled to feel frustration and have our views on individual players, but how can it help to have players not wanting to play at home?
I used to love away games because everybody sang, but unfortunately can't do that anymore. Maybe the solution is to have 'singing' sections but not sure that is a practical proposition for all games.
I would like to add that it was due to someone telling me about 1882 that I found my way to this forum, you can decide amongst yourselves whether that's a good thing or not!! But apart from when you boys start bickering and use foul and insulting language and I just want to bang your heads together, I really enjoy reading and exchanging views with fellow supporters. Long may it continue.
