because we have no one else with any genuine leader qualities. romero is not a captain, the rest of the squad is made up of mainly young boys. gallagher at least leads by example.
Again, because he runs around a bit? That's the criteria now? I don't see any genuine leadership qualities when I watch him.
If we're going to be silly, why not make Xavi the captain? He's the only one actually leading by example.

they all 'run about a bit' theres a difference in his and palhinhas application to most of the others. the two of them are the only actual men in the squad. gallagher has experience of being a captain, the fact hes already been made a captain before means hes shown leadership qualities.

its not just on the pitch stuff either, its about showing maturity off it, which he seems to have shown imo.

"if were going to be silly"? so who should be captain? its very simple, you give it to an actual man!! of which in this squad there are very few!

And they're both not very good players. And one won't be here. Just because you're a "man" doesn't just make you the captain. There's been loads of captain's that were young. Our last captain (Lloris, not Sonny. That was unintentional slander) was a "man" and he was a fucking disaster for the end years.

Personally I want a captain to be someone that is one of the best players in the team. As shite as we are, he's not that, not close. Dom's older, does that make him captain too?

Just daft. He's no more a captain than any of the rest of them. We're devoid of leaders and fecking shitey Conor Gallagher isn't that.

how old are you?

35. I feel to see the relevance.
thought you was in your 20s to be honest. dont think you got the 'man' bit, its not age, its character, lloris was weak, a real captain is a mans man, an actual leader.

yea, we all want a gerrard like captain, but we have to face reality of where we are, we have a squad packed of kids (some promising) and then a load of....average at best mainly. we are in the shit, we need an actual leader to help give us even a few extra % at this point, romero can clearly not be relied upon. the only two ive seen this season show anything like that is pal and gallagher. you can make a point for VDV but i think he wants off too so i wouldnt even consider him. pal and gallagher are playing like they actually want to be here!

and the 'running about a bit' is you downplaying that they play with intensity, something thats crucial in the dogfight we are in.
im well aware that neither of them are luka modric level footballers, but right now they are going to be important players for us.

And you sound like a boomer to me, despite being two years older than me judging by your name.

Gallagher is not that "man" is my point. Average player, runs around a bit. I think you're over
rating him to no end. Stupid signing, which made no sense, doesn't move the needle at all. You can still be influential as an older player without being a captain, and I fail to see to see any changes at all since he's been here. He's been very, very average so far as well, as expected. Brought very little to the dog fight.

We need to go out and buy a captain. Rolling out average crap, making them captain is just silly. If we get the deep lying playmaker we need, then I don't see where he starts if Bergvall is fit. They're about at the same level just now, but Berg's ceiling is miles better so stagnating his development to play a very ordinary player would be stupid. I want a captain playing week in, week out. If he'd went to Villa he'd have been a rotation player, exactly his level. Couldn't start in bad Someone era Atleti either.

Making Gallagher a captain would just rubber stamp the lack of ambition we have as a club.
