Player Conor Gallagher

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was actually really concerned when RDZ played him deeper behind Bergvall in his first game and (unsurprisingly) he looked woeful.

Since we've played him as a pressing 10 in a system where we actually keep the ball a decent amount and he's not chasing shadows, he's looked like the Gallagher we thought we were signing. And now he's topped that off with a fantastic goal.

I don't think he was the signing we needed, but at least he does offer something different: none of Gray, Bergvall, Sarr, Bentancur etc could do what he did as a 10 today.

He will never be my cup of tea, but it seems that RDZ gave him his old palace role back as a pressing 10 who is first to all the second ballls.

I like when managers do logical things. It was something that I admired about Poch and Harry.

Yesterday was easily his best performance for Spurs and he showed passion. I've been his biggest critic since we signed him but if he keeps playing like he did yesterday then he won't be long winning me over.

Does he start for us when Maddison and Bergvall are fit? No not for me but the 2 of them miss alot of games and Gallagher tends to stay fit. He can be a crucial player for us in these last few weeks
Huge credit to Gallagher. He has totally won me over now!

It’s incredible though how managers shoehorn players.

Thinking the whole Gerrard-Lampard-Scholes thing for England but how many times this season has Bergvall an 8 been played 10 and so on. You mostly get a 70-80% performance drop when you play players out of position. Another one is Bentancur as a DM, he ain’t a DM.

De Zerbi playing players in their actual roles seems simple but it’s vital to get victory.

Maddison and Gallagher in front of Palhinha seems like a pretty good CM to start with next season.
Only trouble is it leaves out Gray and Bergvall from a much needed season of being first choice starter.

There is a lot to think about next season for RDZ...
I’d argue that, depending on Maddison’s recovery, we may need at least 2 new starting CMs. Bentancur starts over Palhinha every day of the week.
