Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He is made of glass, just like fellow compadres Foyth, Lo Celso or Lamela - and no hate against Erik, but he was also injured every 6 weeks.

Lets be honest, he isnt that good. For me he always played like a liability. I cant think of a single extraordinary moment from him. Collects yellows and reds in rash tackles, on top of his injuries. It never seems as if he has played a full season in his career. A big letdown in the small amount of decisive matches in the last few seasons.

Im not even that certain that there is interest from Real. He is not at that level. Atletico or Inter maybe? Or Bayern?

He has one year left on his contract in the summer (I believe) so I guess he is off in the summer. The Guehi bid makes sense in this context.

I can't see many in Europe paying £80m+ for him. Good player but is constantly injured. Lets hope he is willing for a Saudi move.

Romero's been part of the problem at Spurs since he arrived in my opinion.

It worries me that holding that opinion is unpopular.

Romero is not Ledley or Toby.

He's average and often not available or interested.

I know there's some mention of him sitting with his family or what not during match days. But as a vice captain, I honestly would have liked him to be making some presence, be it physically or in social space, to show some support for us, you know, admist the current poor league standing and injury situation.

I don't even think it's too much to ask of him to sit with the squad during match days for just the fucking two hours, no matter how a family guy he is. It's his day job which he has been absent for weeks ffs. I'm so pissed off with him.

I must be in the minority reading the posts here. The guy is class but is playing in a crap system that doesn't suit him. I've watched a fair bit of Argentina over the last few years as I was living in South America and he is very highly rated over there. This whole crap about being rash and always suspended is just lazy too in my opinion (4 yellows, 0 reds in his last 30 league matches for us).

If he's not interested in staying of course we should sell but people on here questioning his loyalty to Spurs because he's injured is laughable.

Nah I am not having it. I dont question his loyalty, I dont care too much about that aspect.

He is often unavailable and injured and it wasnt any different under Conte. If he is so highly rated, what is it that makes him great? From my perspective he is a good passer who can create decent situations and actually a solid goalscorer. He lacks in defending: 1v1, heading, positioning. Mind you he also fucked us over last season with Chelsea at home.

Vicario is the reverse him and his whole family have been magnificent. Full in, supporting the kids, been a brilliant team player.

At this point wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave in the summer.
If we thought we could get Guehi for £70m this month then he’s a first team player for us. Someone’s leaving.

Or was our bid for that palace defender another case of levy waving his wallet around after last orders when he knows full well he won’t be allowed to buy any drinks?

The medical world could have revived a dead person in the amount of time he's had off.

Pity really, because when he's motivated, calm and up for it, he is a wonderful defender.

The sooner we shift him, before his next breakdown and buy Guehi, the better for all concerned I think.

Rather he be proactive than reactive on this.

Eh?

They were proactive and tried to get the replacement in early. It's clear Guehi is the player they have chosen and they bid a big amount in the hope that Palace could be swayed (which was never really going to happen but there was still a little chance).

Romero is a known bum that prioritises everything over Spurs and has done for years (with his injury niggles and his miraculous recovery just before international games) but now its in addition to his atrocious performances and no showing when all other injured players are together he will be flogged. We tried to get his replacement in early and failed but at least we've identified the player early.
