Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I hate grown men who have hair like that. Genuinely winds me up. It’s like they have that hairstyle just to piss everyone off.

Romero was just doing what we all wanted to do. Instead of being retrospectively punished, he should be getting thanked by the FA for services to the sport.

If he doesn’t want to have his hair pulled, then get a proper haircut that doesn’t make you look like a cheap David Luisa/Sideshow Bob knock off.
I agree. It aint the 70s anymore we are a civilised peoples now. Guys got the devils curly hair!

Every game he does something that seems to risk getting sent off like yesterday or going in hard on someone and just about getting that ball. In other words he plays on the edge. What a fantastic player though!

I am not sure what game were you guys looking at?

I was absolutely impressed by Romero's performance in first round. He read Southampton like a book.
Stepped out at exactly right time, passed into exactly right places. Felt always step ahead of Soton lads.

But yesterday he was often quite poor in decision making.
In 1st half when he was in possession in Chelsea's half, he took so much time on the ball that their players just easily robbed him.
He was absolutely outplayed when cross came in from left wing, I think it was Loftus-Cheek got free header. And then there was cross in 1st half coming from right when also Chelsea player just stepped out from behind Romero and had dangerous shot on the goal.

Shithousery and winding up Chelscum was all fine and good, but he made number of errors in crutial moments, if Chelsea players accuracy would have been better, we might have conceded from his passiveness more than once yesterday. So I do not think he deserves that praise at all. Still brilliant defender and is able to play full game without putting a foot wrong, but yesterday was not one of those games. Very far from it actually.
...but he pulled Cucu's hair FFS. What's the matter with you?

If a Chelsea player had done the same would you argue that wouldn’t deserve a 3 match ban?

Genuinely curious.

Apparently the rule-book considers it "violent conduct" and thus a straight red..... So, I guess what I think it deserves is moot.

However, personally I see it more akin to shoving and shirt pulling than I do a punch or a headbutt and less 'violent' than a lot of professional fouls.

I'd rather be shoved or have my shirt pulled than have somebody actually grab hold of the back of my hair and chuck me to the ground.

He's got edge to his game & on this occasion got away with one but nobody could really have complained if he'd been sent off. VAR/refs will have a very close eye on him now as it's roundly considered he got away with one.

People will say 'clever' and 'dark arts' and it always is till it doesn't pay off & your best defender is out for key games.

He didn't "chuck" him anywhere......

In that situ all he's really doing is using his momentum and the element of suprise against him.

What you asked me was do I think it is deserving of a 3 match ban? No..... Not really.

Like I said, I don't really consider it violent to any significant degree..... If you do c'est la via.

Let me ask you this.... Is it more "violent" than Cucurella deliberately stamping on Romero's knee in the first half?

I've seen far more "violent' things against us go un-punished in the past

I've heard mugs tonight saying it was worse than Nunez's headbut which is fucking ridiculous.

As far as "dark arts" goes it wasn't particularly 'artistic'.

It was a red card. He grabs his hair and then yanks him to the ground. Every referee I’ve seen analyse it has said it’s a red card for violent conduct. Red cards for violent conduct equate to three match bans.

It’s really that simple in my eyes. I’m glad we got away with it & it’s hilarious it happened to fuck over Chelsea. But this forum would be up in arms about corruption & how their players are scum if the situation was reversed.

It wasn’t worse than the Nunez headbutt and yes, there are many worse forms of violent conduct. As for the Cucurella incident .. come the fuck on. We’re better than pretending it was deliberate. It was two players colliding.

To which extreme, you're over-stating it.

I've said as much myself already. I acknowledged what the rule-book says from the off. I'm not sure why you feel the need to emphasise this.

(The fact remains I could have done much the same with a shirt pull and it would have been no less dangerous and yet would have got a yellow at most.)

As the saying goes, "the rule-book is an ass".

As it stands we've got a manager facing a mult-match ban for having his arm pulled.

So suddenly only we're the one's capable of shit-housing now?

That was easily avoided and he chose not to.

I think you’re seeing all these situations through very white tinted glasses & we’ll have to agree to disagree on essentially all of it.

Let’s just be content with the fact he didn’t get sent off & what he did possibly unsettled Chelsea and helped us equalise. Sometimes it goes your way.
