Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Romero is not even remotely close to be good enough for being part of EPL winning defense.

Second of all "Romero and VDV is as good as we would ever be likely to have at the back" is 100% subjective and weird line of thinking. We've had a duo that was on entirely different level to them in 5 years back. When our financial resources were much more modest. Literally prime Jan and Toby were different class to VDV-Romero. Like literally, having one or other at the heart of defense across 38 game season - VDV and Romero are at least 10+ point drop off. With first you might get 85 or 90 points but you are not getting over 75 with player that has never proved he can consistently defend in EPL.

Third of all, he has not been unsettled. He has been acting like his level is much above our petty little club from day freaking one.

It's utter bollocks. They've done nothing beaten no one of note. At this point Sanchez Romero have been better in a one off NLD that we actually won. This fanbase is getting weird, in an Arse kind of way. With a really YouTube flavoured recency bias. Romero: not better than King, not better than, Mabbutt, Gough, Woodgate.... just no.

We’ve got fans insisting that we need Romero back just to create chances. It’s madness.

Every club in the world needs to know how to make chances without needing stellar CBs- it’s like basic football 101- even Burnley and Everton know how to do it.

We have to get rid if this coach because it's part of this weirdness. They keep trotting out this rubbish that his world class passing out from the back is essential. As if city are slumming if with Stones Woolwich with Saliba Real with Rudiger. Well Id swap him for most of them. They can't pause every thirty seconds on the ball and thread a needle, but no they manage.

The Spanish giants have reportedly been told that they need to pay over £100million for the Argentine to prise him from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in what could be one of the summer's biggest transfer sagas.

And Fabrizo Romano has revealed that whilst Romero's exit is a possibility, it also depends on chairman Daniel Levy's willingness to let him leave - with the Englishman being notorious for dragging out huge fees for his players. Romano told GIVEMESPORT in his transfer newsletter:

"It’s a possibility but not something guaranteed as it depends on Daniel Levy, and we know how strong Spurs are in negotiations.
"So it’s something possible, definitely; but it has to be an important financial package or Levy won’t accept anything."

Oh fcuk off with that 100 million pou d sh!t.

The bloke plays like a 10 million pound central defender.

We will have a summer of we can't spend until we sell bo!!ocks.

I am going on holiday fot thr whole of the 2 summer transfer windows.

Levy got 100m for 30 year old Harry Kane with 1 year left .

If anyone thinks he will sell a 27 year old World Cup winner with 2 years on the cheap then they don’t understand Daniel Levy.

As soon as he gets wind that you want his player, you are fucked. Pay up or fuck off

I know all thst mate. And we suffer as a result, because we NEVER buy (and buy well) before Levy's hard ball starts.

Sounds like another 2 years of half-hearted Romero and then leaving on a free.

Levy would rather keep a discontented player than take less than a maximum profit. While that may be expedient in business terms, it should be obvious to see why that would not be a good footballing decision.

I mean that's exactly what we've been asking him to do isn't it as opposed to selling our best players when they reach their peak.

Anyway I think we will sell him in the Summer, a deal will be agreed as Atletico tend to pay if they really want a player anyway.

For me I think it's best to turn over the squad more aggressively than we have been, getting rid of any players that are discontented earlier. I certainly haven't been begging Levy to try and keep our stars- the first sniff they have that they don't want to play for THFC anymore is the end of the Spurs honeymoon for me, and they ought to moved on for a respectable fee. I'd rather have healthy positive vibes around the club free of any malcontents embittered about their work situation.

That strategy only works if you have the forward planning and the kind of recruitment to replace them.
