Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Who cares, he's leaving anyway...it's not like dropping him will do us any favours or teach him a lesson, guy couldn't care less.

yeah it would help us in the PL games he doesn't care about. Danso starts vs Forest and we probably get a point at least.

At this point it's obvious that the guy is only motivated for the EL matches so play him in the EL and Danso in the league.

You definitely hold that over his head and threaten him with not playing a final if we got there.

After that interview and his performance against Forest, I'd be fine starting Danso over him for PL or EL, final included. He can fuck himself.

Yet another player who will be missed after he leaves, he has some awful games, but playing under this clown in a back 4 where the full backs are absent 90% of the time cannot be desirable.

Predict he will state at some stage that the club/Levy did not match his ambition and he wouldn't be wrong there.
Problem with having such good youth like Gray and Bergvail is the likes of Romero or Vdv will be tempted away before it all comes to fruition, ala Modric , Berba and Bale, only Kane stuck around longer than most and Levy still failed him.

Now there’s a wild concept, actually acting like a big club. Maybe, just maybe, instead of moaning about ambitious players wanting more, we could match that ambition ourselves. Get in top-tier coaching, invest properly in depth, and stop treating Champions League qualification like it’s a miracle rather than a minimum expectation.

Crazy idea: create an environment where players like Romero see a future, not a stepping stone. But nah, easier to bash them for wanting to win stuff while we coast in mediocrity and romanticise “the project” like it’s year one all over again.

Ambition isn’t the problem, it’s the lack of it around him that is.

My last post/response on this, so continue with the pitch forks.
You will find peace if you realise / accept that levy / enic dont care about trophys or cl (anymore)
We are all disappointed after all those years but that doesn't make Romero a better player or does it excuse his Interview as a vice captain 10 days before a el semi final.
If you are satisfied with romeros season and his behaviour well that's a you Problem.
I cant be bothered to list all his mistakes this season I dont have all night.

I haven’t suggested as such, but is a bit baffling that Romero is the only defender or midfielder on page 1 of the forum moaning about his mistakes.

Can you point to a direct quote stating that he doesn’t want to play for us anymore? He wants to improve and is ambitious, and wants to play in La Liga one day, what is controversial about that?
Romero is the defender we were begging to have back in January. I find it weird you think we were hating him all this time.

I can't point to a direct quote but can give you quotes which we can make implications from today:

"The league I’m missing is Spain’s. I’d love to, honestly. La Liga.

“I’d love to play there because it’s the one I haven’t played in yet."

Roma and van the man BOTH need a good old fashioned boot up the arse.. the way the performed in the first half against forest was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY acceptable.. they did stuff thats UNACCEPTABLE at Sunday league level let alone prem ...old school would be drop the fuckers into the reserve's, let's hope getting their arses subbed at half time was a wake up call.

Ange has the chance to do the best thing ever. Put that guy in the bench and don’t let him see another minute.

The team’s down, going into the most important games we have left and he says “I need to play in Spain.”

Fuuuuuck that guy.

Because that world be complete sabotage....he was literally one of our best players against Frankfurt yet you have fans out here upset at him over some comments and want him dropped which doesn't help us in any way shape or form.

Good Lord 😵‍💫

He was his actual level against Frankfurt

The fact that he’s been so far off that in the PL all season just shows where his head is at.

Then he decides to do that interview AFTER reaching a EL SF and being mysteriously slow to recover from an injury half the season???

Fuck him.

Had no issues him wanting to leave. I’d want to leave enic and levy if I was his level but the way he’s gone about it means he’s completely lost me. I wouldn’t pick him if we reached the final. No way he’s earned that memory to share with these fans and this club. He’s thrown that down the toilet.

It's not really that deep, if he wants to leave then fine but we can ill afford to leave him out the team and the EL matches just because his comments hurt our feelings because he's going to leave regardless of whether we leave him out or not...pointless cutting our nose off to spite our face.

Danso is as good as any CB on Bodo, Bilbao or UTD and the team is more important than the man.

That interview was Romero telling the whole team he’s better than this club and he might do us a favour of playing well in the EL but other than that he’s not bothered.

That’s cancerous for team belief if you reward it with starts.

The team belief looked absolutely fine last week in Frankfurt so I'm not sure I buy that.

And this is after Romero has apparently been pulling a fast one according to our fans, dissed the club and complained about the board and the medical team yet still manages to be a net positive in our most important match of the season, funny that.

Thankfully our coach won't be emotional as our fans and drop him for the Semis.

That was before Romero himself spoke out about wanting to leave and dropped another stinker in the PL that resulted in another loss despite creating enough chances to win 4 games if we could defend.

What difference does it make, it's obvious he wanted to leave ages and he's been dropping stinkers all season.

A declaration of wanting to seek a new challenge isn't going to change anything and neither should it.

We've got this far in the competition, it would be stupid to drop him now.

Just another sign Ange is done.

When he joined the take was he’s very much a get on the bus for the journey type of manager.
If players don’t want to be here then they don’t play. Ange takes no shit. But right now he can take a bit more!

This has shades of Walker and poch. Poch knew he had to drop Walker to show his own long term strength.
Ange doesn’t need to. He just needs his best 11 on the pitch short term as he’s not here long term.

Didn’t Romero even say if Ange leaves he’s going to leave? Or did I imagine that?
Was a while back now.

He did say that indeed.

No doubt Romero respects Ange but he’s at war with the club and if Ange was thinking long term he’d never be playing a player who’s acting like the club is beneath him.

Even if what Romero says has some truth to it, it’s not what he gets paid to do. If he’s playing his best football every week, then maybe we can understand but he’s not. Hes picking and choosing and playing like a cunt when he doesn’t fancy it.

I don't know what all the fuss is about... he's off in the summer and I couldn't give a toss... he's been abjectly poor for near on two seasons now. If Ange thinks he will play like he does for Argentina in the Europa, then by all means play him. But I wouldn't give him another minute in the PL. I would also be telling his agent it's a minimum £80m... and to fuck off and find a buyer. We've got better centre halves on loan at Stoke and Westerlo

this is the problem when you hire such an incompetent manager. the big boys want out, will put us a few steps back now. replacing romero wont be easy. would be nice to get another year out of him, then the young croatian kid would be almost there.
