Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I know right. Absolutely fucking clueless bastards. One eleven put Van De Ven ahead of Toby Alderweireld and one of these utter fools claimed Romero was BETTER then Ledley King. There's still people think we cant cope with selling both in a season. Mickey isn't better than his old Wolfsburgh Crystal Palace centerback Lecroix and Romero is a clown.
There is not a single player in this team that would make Spurs all-time 25 man squad.

I'm probably one of Romero's biggest backers but even I can't defend this. Just hope the fee already agreed is significant.
Yup, I feel the same way.

And make no mistake, Romero's boyhood club is playing for the first Argentine title in their 121 year history, this is a massive moment that I am sure is deep in his heart.

But a long-tenured captain does not abandon his team when facing down a situation like the one we're in on Sunday. It's deplorable, and I would say to Romero's face that none of his Argentine heroes would have turned tail like this, it's antithetical to the die-for-the-shirt culture that makes Argentine football great.

My first post in a while:
The only decent thing that Romero has done this season is to sign a new contract so we might get a better price for him. Even then, he gained financially from it so it was hardly altruistic. Whatever on the field talent he has is lost amongst the lack of professionalism and drama he brings. He can’t fuck off soon enough.

Good to see the back of him. It also shows what this squad think about each other too. It's a terrible group of 'players', absolute massive clearout is needed.

Hopefully at least 10 go this summer, it's a lot but it's needed, the club is rotten. Full of pricks in that squad who somehow have the audacity to think they are better than they are! i think folie a deux is rife in the changing room.

I don't even care if the rumours of Romero going back to Argentina are fact or fiction.

If you are a proper Spurs fan, you are fcuking pained right now. Not just the drama to unfold (hopefully avoided) of Sunday but knowing that rabble have won another PL title, and possibly with the CL trophy to come.

That should be bringing tweets of resolve and determination and soothing words to give the impression you understand.

Honestly the judgement of some posters on players and managers of this club are just the stuff of sputum.

I hope to God we stay up and that lot get beaten by PSG but if the results both go the wrong way, as long as I do not have to see Romero in a Spurs shirt again, whatever anger and pain I feel will be lessened.

It’s sad that good players always come to the opinion that our club is beneath them.

While he ought to be there as the captain, we should be directing barbs toward the people who’ve made the club into laughing stock just as much as those who realize they have done and don’t want their careers tied to it.

Apparently he's off to Barcelone now. Wonder if he'll win his second World Cup this summer as well.

Defo not World class though. Danso far more accomplished

If your barometer on world class is who has won a world cup then you are silly mate. Lots of average to dogshit players have won world cups.

Let's deal with facts, not just arbritary nonsense like World Cup = worldclass.

He has never performed consistently in the PL for Spurs. He's not even considered one of the leagues top CBs, he's nowhere near it. If he was so good, another PL club would be trying to take him off us.

He has cost us loads of goals and results, not just with his mistakes and poor defending, but because of his ill discplined and dumb play which doesn't just make him an overrated defender, it also makes him a liability.

We quite literally do not miss him at all, when he doesn't play. Since when does that ever happen with a world class player? I mean, think about it.

This is a guy who has been a big part of the worst Spurs side in living memory, with two consecutive 17th places finishes (hopefully).

He may well end up at Barcelona, the slower pace of that league combined with the fact outside of 3 clubs the rest of the league is dross, will make him look better than he is.

But the fact is in the PL he's nothing more than average, to poor. And if he doesn't sort out his ill discipline and mistakes, he'll be a complete flop in Spain too.

I don't think he will end up at Barcelona anyway.

The term world class is thrown around so easily by people it's ridiculous honestly. Romero is nowhere near world class, it's laughable that anyone who has watched him the last 3 years would call him world class. He's not fit to clean Saliba and Gabriels boots. If Romero is world class, those two must be fucking gods.

I'd have Konsa over Romero every single day of the week.

I don't use the c-bomb on here, as Mrs Perryman would not approve, but if this story is completely true then this guy is an utter cunt, and I hope I never see him wear the shirt again. Piece of shit.

In his defence (and I want rid of him badly)...

If I played in Argentina and Spurs had a Champions League final I could get to, and I was injured...

I would go to the Spurs game.

He feels about Belgrano as we feel about Spurs.
But you're not a professional footballer, captain of a side in deep trouble and being paid millions for sitting on your backside for a huge hunk of each season since you've been here.
Sorry, but this decision is horrendous. I've actually been an advocate of his, most of the time, but he needs to be sacked.
