Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Honestly though bad as this is I think I side with Romero over our board and management. Whatever has gone on between the two parties, I do not believe it’s Romero solely in the wrong.

Fucking hell, I've read some dumb shit in my time but this is up there. You clearly know nothing about football.

Barcelona have in fact wanted Saliba for a long time, so do Madrid. But he's practically unobtainable and would cost a world record fee for a CB.

Him and Gabriel are two elite CBs and a big reason why the scum have been top 2 in the PL for a number of years, are now title winners, and CL finalists and potential winners of that too. It doesn't actually get better than that in club football.

Woolwich don't even have that good of an attack. Their whole success is built around Saliba, Gabriel and Raya and Rice. They barely ever concede because they are world class.

Romero isn't fit to clean their boots. That's just a fact. Nobody with any clue about football, would even put Romero in the sentence as those two. He's miles below them.

You're just a biased Spurs fan who overrates mediocre Spurs players, it's a disease. Completely deluded. There's a reason we are fighting relegation, it's because our supposed best player and captain is actually a fucking fraud. If Romero was an ounce as good as Saliba or Gabriel he'd be a huge miss and we'd all be crying about him potentially being injured or leaving, but we aren't, because he's a liability. There are so many PL CBs who would and do perform better in the PL than Romero. He's a walking disaster.
I'd wager if you asked neutral fans to list the best CBs in the league, 99% would put Gabriel and Saliba above Romero, and I reckon the majority wouldn't even put Romero in the top 10. It's only a sub-section of Spurs fans, Argentina fans and Lionel Messi that consider Romero a 'world class' defender and really rate him. Most people think he's an idiotic, unreliable hot-head, even if he's capable of brilliance every now and then.

Tbh I don't give 2 fucks if the club have allowed him to travel. This is on Romero - if he really wanted to be in London for the final game he could be and he's actively chosen not to be there. Hell, he could fly back today if he really wanted to.

EIther he's so thick that he doesn't understand the optics, he truly doesn't care a single iota, or he's actively using this as a way of driving a wedge between himself and the fans to help engineer a move. All of the above are unforgiveable for a club captain.

It isn't about them.

It's about us.

We have been abandoned by our captain prior to the most important game in our history.

You think Bruno Fernandes, with all his faults, would abandon his club in their hour of need because he hates their board?

What about Chelsea's captain?

Do you think Jarrod Bowen is happy with David Sullivan? and fucking back off to Burnley in West Ham's hour of need?

He's a massive disappointment. Even contemplating doing it knowing it will cause a stir is unacceptable.

The very first out the door in the summer. Get him sold before the world cup starts and be done with his time here.

What a pity but he's caused a lot of the issues so we move on.

I read all these stories but then saw this on We are Tottenham TV:

I thought it must just be an old photo or ai but then I did a little digging myself and saw this:

I was careful in saying "if true" as I don't know if this account is genuine but it seems at odds with what I heard yesterday. However, didn't they just qualify for the final?

Edit: Found this as well:

You were 💯 right all along. Better informed than any so called Spurs journalist. Well done.👍

It seems Captain Romero will be there cheering on his favourite Argentinan club, with their IMPORTANT match.

It's a bad look whichever way you look at it. From the management perspective, his teammates, supporters and himself.

His priorities certainly aren't with Spurs!

That's not how a real Captain behaves, particularly in this hour of need.

It basically confirms everyone's doubts about the guy as a character and a captain. Actions speak louder than words and the guy's heart's simply not in it.

Anyone still in any doubt about why he was crying against Sunderland?

I hope we will find out what the hell he was promised last summer when he signed the new contract.
His behaviour this season is so over the top unprofessional on and off the pitch.
This looks like a final fuck you to Tottenham from him.
What can we do?

Well everyone who has a Romero shirt should burn it and film it. Or if you are in Tottenham on sunday burn it in front of the stadium.

He is not very bright but even he should get this kind of message.
He is not welcome in N17 anymore

Ok seriously fuck this guy. Absolute joke.

A serious captain would be in the dressing room every week supporting the players when relegation is on the line. And to not even be there for the most important game in our modern history? Get to fuck.

Whatever league we're in next year this guy's poisonous and needs out of our club.
Cue Vinnie giving him a new improved contract.

Honestly nothing would surprise me at this point. If we stay up, can't find a buyer and RDZ likes him, there's a world where he's still our captain next season.

Personally I think enough is enough and we need to move on. Don't care if on form he's one of our best players, I'm just sick of him and his antics. It's only one of about 20 different factors, but I do think having him as our captain is one of the reasons this season has been such a shitshow. Sell or loan him and bring in Vuskovic.

Absolutely 100 percent correct. I won't like it if he isn't going to be with the team this Sunday, but with the total lack of support he has had from the board, and I have to say from a large group of our own supporters, I can understand why he has probably checked out.

If the club hierarchy had fought for Romero when the PGMOL decided they were going to make an example of him, in the same way Woolwich have fought for Gabriel, there's no way Romero would have been penalised as much as he has this year. Literally everyone can see how much Gabriel has been protected, and that's because his club challenged the PGMOL. Without all those decisions going in his favour, Woolwich don't win the league this year.....FACT!!!!

Listening to actual Spurs fans fawn over these Woolwich players now really shows how poor some of our fanbase is, and shines a light on exactly what people are talking about when they talk about the DNA of the club.

You're just a biased Spurs fan who overrates mediocre Spurs players,

Spurs fan on Spurs forum has a bias towards Spurs.... who would have thought.

Seriously. This is a huge reason why we have been slipping down the table in recent years.

This rotten type of attitude from the leadership team has an impact on the squad. It just does.

Vicario I think is poisonous. We’ve seen the way he hounds young players and even the fans.

Porro is obviously a Grade A cunt.

And I think players like Van de Ven have done very little this last 24 months to be proud of. We know Micky has been sulking around the place until De Zerbi came in.

Biggest reset needed in the clubs history. Just hope to God it’s the EPL.

Amazed if he’s here next season - unlikely to be captain, even if he is, with Maddison injury-free - maybe a couple of new players - even Pal on a one-year…

RDZ has eyes - he knows that Romero’s a potential liability every game. Different approach once this weekend’s done, rather than just endlessly bigging up mediocrity.

Of course, if we’re relegated, he’ll leave, as will anyone else with some sell-on value so then, who knows.

Think though put Romero next to either of them in that Woolwich side he’d look great. Likewise put Gabriel in this and he’d be making mistakes. He makes some now and is quite rash at times, but teams can’t go about Woolwich. It’s about timing as much as anything. Ability wise Romero is up there and big teams will be in for him this summer for a reason. Hopefully we’ll get a decent fee.
