This thread is just polarizing nonsense, like two things can be true - you can live in a world an admit that he's an incredible player on his day but you can also live in a world and say he's let us down on many occasions, same for saying that his influence was key in us winning our first trophy for donkey's years but at the same time his petulance put us in a position where we had to fight without him to pick up points in a relegation dogfight..
I think he clocked the club ages ago with our lack of ambition and he's downed tools and as a result he let himself down. I also happen to think that the club have fully indulged him and let him take the piss numerous times and should have never been made captain. I personally think it's time to move on now because he's got a bad rep amongst refs now and he's now become a liability.
Bit unfortunate that the club decided to pull it's finger out of it's arse and find the perfect player manager combo but it's too late now so we move.
Calling him a fraud is a load of bollocks though.
It's the incredibly annoying way of the modern internet that correctly perceiving the arguments for why it would be best for Spurs to move on from Romero means you have to adopt a comprehensive "Romero is bad" pose and make up nonsense about it being a myth that he was flawless in Bilbao or Qatar with Argentina.

Yes, he's a tosser for doing thatHarry Kane literally sat out games trying to force a move. THAT is "downing tools" ffs. Do we begrudge him that?
Ultimately it doesn’t matter, considering he doesn’t really consistently do it for us.Can't wait until this thread is moved although I fully expect him to be putting in top performances for his next club so there's that...
He then went on to sign a new contract much to the surprise and delight of the entire fanbase.Yes you said we'd lose the Europa League final.
Christian Romero was Player of the Tournament in that successful campaign and MOM in the Final which we won, contrary to your stated expectations.
You haven't answered my question: if Christian Romero is a "fraud" - what does that make you?![]()

The fans ire should have been directed at the naked lack of ambition at board level that led to Harry taking up that position, rather than the player himself. It's so petty and shameful.dudu talks about "downing tools" - Harry Kane literally sat out games trying to force a move. THAT is "downing tools" ffs. Do we begrudge him that?
Crazy.
And the propensity for "fans" to completely fucking slaughter all of their own players - all of the fucking time - as if that makes you some sort of oracle if/when they move on. Whatever Romero's many faults he put the team and club on his back and won us a European Trophy. We all cry about wanting winners but can't wait to stick the boot into the one bloke in 17 years who literally won something for us.

I lost some love for Kane over that tbh. I don’t think anyone doubts Romero at his best is one of the best CBs in World football. Can't wait until this thread is moved although I fully expect him to be putting in top performances for his next club so there's that...

I see where youre coming from, but I also think its 50/50 as to whether RDZ got the best out of him - or they just completely combustedIronically I think De Zerbi is the type of coach that would probably get the best out of him.
What an amazing coincidence regarding his return from injury- too injured to play our final match, but becoming healthy enough for full training with argentina a week later. SMH...
Fair. I went Romero out in the second half of this season. Doesn't really want to be here, and (in part) due to that isn't captain material. And is a marked man in the PL. And we are in a good position for CBs. But he can be the best player on the pitch, and was immense in Europa last season. And the propensity for "fans" to completely fucking slaughter all of their own players - all of the fucking time - as if that makes you some sort of oracle if/when they move on. Thank you Cuti, and good luck.
