This is revisionism. Kane obviously ended up a generational talent, and the skills were there to mould - but had 2 goals from 15 appearances for Leicester at the same age. If Scarlett's not ready to play Premier League football, then don't have him in the matchday squad.
What was the point of recalling him and stunting his development if he's there to make up the numbers?
And so what if Scarlett isn't the new Kane, or better than Solanke. he's still a better CF than Tel.
It's like they learned nothing.
I suspect Scarlett will never be a top level player but i just cant see the logic of not bringing him on instead of Werner. The minutes Scarlett has had he's done well. You have a home grown player that may have a future here as a squad player against a poor player who is off in 3 months and who has been left out of our Europa squad. Postecoglou did the same last season giving Gil some minutes. Utterly shortsighted.

So Scarlett has gone from being recalled because he's not getting much game time at Oxford United to sitting on the bench here whilst Tel fails.
It is truly bizarre considering Scarlett has done well here when he's had chances. It's a bit like the Spence situation all over again.
I did post his full stats this season on here before:
Oxford 4goals 1 assists 961mins (10.5 games)
Spurs 1goals 2assists 51mins(0.5 games)
England U21 2goals 1asts 113mins (1.5 games)
England U20 3goal 297mins (3.5games)
Thats 10goals 4assists in 16 games. Now I know that Ange only counts good assists, but certainly the two Spurs ones were decent! Tel would kill for those numbers this season...
The lad needs to play games, Ange (or someone above him - Levy?) decided not to loan him again, so the club have a responsibility to give him decent minutes where possible. Playing Timo Werner instead is just disgraceful.
Because the loan he was on was stunting his development even worse.
If he’s going to make appearances off the bench anyway, he may as well be training with PL players and making those sub appearances in the EL and PL.
Why is this so difficult for people to wrap their head around?
There’s nothing being revised. It’s like we’re leaving 2025 Kane on the bench the way people are talking.
Scarlett shouldn’t be obviously starting ahead of Tel. Clearly it will take Tel time to get up to speed but he’s shown much more over his career than Scarlett and at a younger age. It’s not even close.
If anything our league position gives us space to think more long term anyway.
Werner instead of Scarlett last night was just wrong. Werner is a head down runner as is/was Tel, Johnson (well maybe not) Oderbet and Son. Scarlett would offer something different as a target man. As I said before, I just dont get Ange's tactics
Context is everything. Look at the level hes played at.
Tel of all players is someone who has had great goals per game in his career and at a much higher level than Scarlett. This season he hasn’t played as much but last year (at 18) he got 10 goals and 6 assists in 1400 minutes. That’s a goal contribution every 88 minutes in the league, Champions league and cup.
I don’t think we need to bash one to want the best for the other. I hope they both get chances and I’d be much happier seeing Scarlett come on than Werner
Werner needs minutes. We don’t want to be caught with more injuries and an underdone Werner. We might only have him for a couple more months but he needs to ready
What you have failed to spot is Tel played a lot last season and did well
This season hardly played at Bayern, and boy does it show,
He's now played 4 games for Spurs, and sadly is showing he's as rusty as hell and well behind the curve.
Probably best for him to sit out a game or two to get the mental side of his game right.
I'd be tempted to start Scarlett v AZ as he's the man in relative form - I don't want to rush Solanke back to start, and much prefer Son as LW rather than centre forward.
Scarlett gives us the focal point and physicality that Tel has shown he does not have at age 19. Hopefully Tel improves whilst he's at Spurs but we cannot play a player who is out of form continually when other players are in better form

And his stats relate to the player he was last season.
Bayern hardly played him this season so he's extremely rusty as we've seen and his stats from last season have no bearing on this season's form
Tel has lost the right for further starts in my opinion he needs to go to the bench. Dane, he has done well when he has played, so deserves more minutes. Who will end up being the better player? Who knows?, but I reckon Scarlett will be a better centre forward, because CF isn't Tels position.
Does a players’ ability get randomly generated every season?
Tel is the same person he was last season.
What’s changed is that he hasn’t played much and, as you and Ange have both pointed out, hes rusty. This isn’t a mentality issue it’s something you fix by playing and training well. Ange has said his mentality is great and he’s training well. His performance levels will rise through playing, not sitting in the bench.
Of course on the levels. But my point was the 4 in 22 point you made was very unfair to Dane, he has an excellent G/A stat for the game time he has had across those levels this season.
FWiW I just don't think Tel is a centre forward, and we are playing him in the wrong position.

As you may recall Oxford is not a high scoring side and about a month ago, Scarlett and 3 or 4 other players were all joint top scorers for Oxford - with Dane having the lowest playing time.
So his Oxford stats are better than they first appear
