This is wishful thinking not based in fact. His performance levels will rise through playing, not sitting in the bench.
Does a players’ ability get randomly generated every season?
Tel is the same person he was last season.
What’s changed is that he hasn’t played much and, as you and Ange have both pointed out, hes rusty. This isn’t a mentality issue it’s something you fix by playing and training well. Ange has said his mentality is great and he’s training well. His performance levels will rise through playing, not sitting in the bench.
Tel scored 7 goals in 30 Bundesliga games last season. That is less than 1 goal every 4 games. What you have failed to spot is Tel played a lot last season and did well
I find Ange’s take very reasonable and better informed:Extreme rust means he has the same attributes as last season but cannot get the same output as last season.
Mentality/confidence is essential to a player - as is stress. Better to take player out of the firing line for a game or two and let him recover his confidence a little on the training ground.
The easiest example of the mental state of Tel and Scarlett is Dane coming off the bench v Elfsborg and score within about 4 minutes followed up by an assist - so despite not playing for a while he had confidence from training. Tel has shown the exact opposite in being ready for a game ........ despite his form last season
Werner needs to fuck off. And if he could take that aussie fraud with him that'll be even betterWerner needs minutes. We don’t want to be caught with more injuries and an underdone Werner. We might only have him for a couple more months but he needs to ready
Ready for what? He should be the 5th option on the left and only used after everyone in the South Stand has had a go down the middle.Werner needs minutes. We don’t want to be caught with more injuries and an underdone Werner. We might only have him for a couple more months but he needs to ready
He flicked on a great header for a great goal for us two games ago. No one is saying he needs to start- but certainly when we are desperate for a legit aerial target we could find 20 minutes for him at the end of a game, no? Like I just said, it literally worked for us two games ago. Ange decided to put on Werner instead- Werner who hasn't even played a minute for us in the last two months.Scarlett has 4 in 22 for Oxford United this season. It’s like we’re leaving Kane on the bench reading these comments. Hes not there yet
Completely fairHe flicked on a great header for a great goal for us two games ago. No one is saying he needs to start- but certainly when we are desperate for a legit aerial target we could find 20 minutes for him at the end of a game, no? Also add in lankshire loan it's a net benefitBecause the loan he was on was stunting his development even worse.
If he’s going to make appearances off the bench anyway, he may as well be training with PL players and making those sub appearances in the EL and PL.
Why is this so difficult for people to wrap their head around?
Some random probably sent it to them and they did no fact checking.
Ready to be the fifth option. I don’t want the cunt either but as a senior player he needs minutes here and thereReady for what? He should be the 5th option on the left and only used after everyone in the South Stand has had a go down the middle.
If Werner was going to get minutes rather used that for a young one who can grow.Ready to be the fifth option. I don’t want the cunt either but as a senior player he needs minutes here and there
I find Ange’s take very reasonable and better informed:
With Mathys, and I’m not on social media but I can just imagine the comments about him, he’s 19-years-old, he hadn’t played a lot, we’ve thrown him in and kept him in there because I want to build up his fitness.”
"But if anyone is expecting him to come in as a 19-year-old and take the Premier League by storm by scoring multiple goals, it’s not realistic. It just can’t happen. What we’re trying to do is work with him. He needs to get his physical fitness up because he hasn’t played a lot of football.”"
At 19, I see really outstanding attributes in him that I think he could be a really good number nine, he can play wide as well, but he’s not going to be a Dom or a Delap, he’s a different type. Looking at him in training, his movements are becoming a bit more fluent, he’s getting used to the way we play. He’s getting used to the level of competition.”"What I do love about him is that he’s a hard worker. You watch him in games, he’s closing people down, he’s doing the things we need him to do at the moment to help us. He may not be getting the goals and the accolades, but he’s certainly contributing to the way we want to play. That’s the most important thing. He’s got so much growth in him and I’m sure we’ll see that."
Come off it that back header could have gone anywhere. He flicked on a great header for a great goal for us two games ago. No one is saying he needs to start- but certainly when we are desperate for a legit aerial target we could find 20 minutes for him at the end of a game, no?
