Ex-Spurs Player Danny Rose

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Did the Bale sale not teach us anything? Also, look around at other teams that spent huge money on transfers this past summer. Spoiler alert: We are currently above all but one of them in the table.
Yea, it taught us that AVB knew dick about buying players. Different manager and a different era in our club. I have a little more faith in Poch as I'm sure we all do on here.

We shouldn't be afraid to spend money because the Bale saga. Also, just because Pogba looks like shit in a Mou team doesn't mean a big money buy can't work for us.

If any player wants to go, then I trust Levy to rinse every penny out of the buying team.
If any player is deemed not good enough for Poch, see above.
I think we are now beyond being seen as a selling club. You can't keep players at the club who don't want to be here & whilst it hurts when they go Bale, Modric etc) it remains part of football. I just hope the current crop see what is happening at Spurs & take a leaf out of Hugo's book. Best training facilities in the land, soon to have the best club stadium in the land & a manager who literally walks over hot coals with his players.

It's very exciting & I sense the players see it the same way. Genuine greatness is within touching distance & I can see us being contenders for a long time to come.
Great post! Genuine greatness is the key for retaining our top players and attracting others. The chance to win title which has not been won for such a long time would guarrentee those players genuine greatness what a prize!

Phwooooarrrr! Think what we could do with 80m under Poch.....

Sissoko, Jansen, GKN.... + 10m..... Less inflation at an insane rate.

...Drool?????.

Yeah but my thing is why let go of a known commodity for an unknown? I am not saying Danny Rose is worth 80m but I don't see another wing back in world football who can do what he can do. (maybe Marcelo who we couldn't get)

I see it like this. If we had Davies as our full time leftback and smartly buy with 80m I think our team could be better. That's why I wouldn't be opposed to selling Rose for a ridiculous fee of 80m. Now if we're talking 40m? Then hell no I wouldn't sell Rose.

Don't think anyone would disagree with that. But don't you think we're doing rather nicely with what we've got? I'm absolutely certain that if Poch wants a specific player, Levy will do all he can to back him, because he's a fool if he doesn't. And Levy, of all people, knows when he's onto a winner.

I honestly don't think there are that many players Available who will significantly improve our starting XI & we shouldn't be held over a barrel to get them. Keeping the team we have with one or two tweaks should be just fine. I'm happy to leave it to Poch & his staff to identify them & am willing to believe that Levy sees that we are on the brink of something that will make Spurs infinitely larger worldwide & incredibly valuable.
That will appeal to ENIC and if they need to speculate to get there, they will.

Weaken one position to potentially strengthen another?

Not great strategy.

We're doing amazing right now with the players we have.

Since Rose has been out we've been 10-1-2. He's fantastic for our system but we can survive without him. And like I said, I just couldn't turn down 80m for him.

But this is exactly the sort of attitude that takes us back to square one isn't it? Can't resist £80 million for a player. I'd say we CAN absolutely resist eye watering sums of money for our players unless they are crystal clear that they won't stay. It's pointless to build something as near to a title winning team as most of us have ever seen with our own eyes, to dismantle it again because someone offered stupid sums of money for a player or players. If the player wants out, show them the door & leave it to Daniel Levy to hang the buyer out to dry. But we really shouldn't be entertaining turning over a profit unless or until the player himself asks to leave.

And it's the easiest way for filthy rich clubs to weaken us.
