Belittle anyone with that kinda talk and expect to be engaged with? You've taken serious defence to a very light hearted story about somebody you don't even know!

Do you lead into conversations regularly? Is your introduction line "I'm not racist but...."

Just don't like the Brexiteer stereotype, its born out of pure ignorance.
Not going to dignify the bold bit with an answer as it proves my point, you might be saying it in jest and I might be overblowing my reaction but essentially you have a very low opinion of 50+% of the people of this country. And I also gather you think everything that celebrates British culture is probably a touch racist.

I can only go by what your putting out brother.

Either way, I've made my point will leave it there.

No.. I do not.. but it was FUNNY.. that fish and chips isn't all the British. This is the only point I was in jest making.

But hey.. I'm currently watching a video on Spitfires and humming Rule Britannia to counter out any idea that I hate myself, the British lad that I am.

that point (the origin of fish and chips) is actually disputed. Not that I really care who invented it many good things come from foreign shores, couldn't live without a curry.

fair enough

Despite that being a woke cringefest, it's probably true. The portuguese definitely introduced tempura to Japan

And most of what we consider to be Chinese and Indian foods aren't even eaten in those respective places its been modified and adapted.

My ex boss was Italian and he had never heard of a Spaghetti Bolognaise, they call the sauce part Ragu, and they don't eat it with Spaghetti traditionally. Traditionally Spaghetti is just eaten with a garlic sauce.

It's a weird old world

Funny fact for you

The British and Portugese made the curry possible !

Both countries wre responsible for importing chillies from South America (where they were growing natuarally) to the Indian sub continent where locals used chillies, probably as in heat meat tended to go off quickly so chillies disguised taste of any 'slightly off' but still edible meats.

Didn’t we introduce tea to India and condensed milk?

You've already demonstrated the level of your ignorance, so I wouldn't bother if I was you.

I will ask you this simple question though and you can go away and have a little think about it and realize how far your Cognitive dissonance stretches.

Why is it wrong for British people to take pride in British culture, why is that somehow seen as a bad thing? jingoistic, small minded, xenophobic and all that jazz.
Yet when we see people of other cultures celebrating their heritage and culture that is a positive thing?

Anyone banging on about how 'proud' they are of a place they were born in through pure chance, 99% of the time is a massive fucking whopper.

English, French, German, whoever. Anyone who buzzes off where they come from is normally a massive bore.

Good idea.. lets set Danny Rose up as a TV Presenter and send him around the world sampling food and tracing its origins. Let him discover things like the trade routes and how nations interacted. The theme could centre about "not having to google" facts. Could even do a special Milan? Lombardy importance in the trading world.

My family on one side came here with nothing at the turn of the 20th century because this was the best place to be, they embraced being British, fully integrated into British culture and my great grandfather and grandfather fought for those British values in both World Wars.

Heritage and culture is important, whatever nation you come from. These are our roots they mean something.

Your entitled to your opinion, nihilistic as it sounds.

Nationality isn't important.... see Nuclear Fusion thread.. we're fucked when we speed up our travel..
