Ex-Spurs Player Davinson Sanchez

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lots of stuff out there saying we're gonna land him.

Poch convinced him to come

I'm gonna say what we're all thinking.

Spending a lot of money on a CB. Toby hasn't signed a new contract yet...

Hopefully there's no connection

It's not even as pessimistic as his tweet makes out....

Ajax have told Sky Sports News that they have informed Tottenham target Davinson Sanchez they do not want to sell him this summer.

Sky Sports News understands Spurs are interested in signing the 21-year-old centre-back but reports that a deal is close to being agreed are premature.

Sanchez was left out of the Dutch side's Eredivisie opener on Saturdaybecause manager Marcel Keizer and sporting director Marc Overmars felt he was not focused enough amid the uncertainty.

Overmars has also confirmed to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Ajax have offered him an improved contract after just one successful year at the club.

An Ajax spokesperson told Sky Sports News on Sunday: "Last year Sanchez signed a five-year contract and we don't want to let him go.

"That's what (sporting director) Marc Overmars has told the player and his agents. He is a great player who is very important for us. Next to that, we never comment on rumours regarding transfers."

Spurs have been in the market for a new centre-half and pulled out of negotiations to sign Argentinian Juan Foyth from Estudiantes because Mauricio Pochettino felt they were demanding too much for the youngster.

They have also been after new attacking-midfield player and Sky Sports News understands Tottenham are in talks with Celta Vigo to sign Spain U19 international Pape Cheikh Diop.

Despite not making a signing yet this summer, Mauricio Pochettino's side beat Newcastle 2-0 away from home in their opening Premier League game, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

Pochettino was pleased with is side's performance but said they still need to bring in more players "to refresh and add energy and competition to the squad.
how is that news?

Ifmreal madrid want him and promise him game time we haven't got a chance
Same goes for Chelsea.
We cannot compete with those two.
They can pay a bigger fee and wages.
I cannot see Levy spending £45m on a kid .

Our big money signings have a habit in not always working out too successfully. If we're contemplating spending silly money on a CB that is not PL-proven, surely we would be better off spending the money on making Toby happy (who I wouldn't swap for anyone), if the only reason he's unhappy is cash!
