needs to be more central, he can beat men quite easy but then doesnt have the pace to get away from them if hes beating them out in open space. wanna get him as close to the box as possible so that once hes beaten them they are in trouble and they cant recover.

Needs to be played in another position. If we really want to sign this guy then the new manager should try him as either a 10 or an 8. It worked last season as a RW but he has been figured out. He's too predictable out on the wing, and also has no balance and is too slow.

I will say though, in a possession based system he would probably be alot better. But even then I can see him being more consistent as an 8 or 10 where his pace and balance won't be as much of an issue

Big kulu supporter but fuck me he was horrible yesterday.

Son and Kane’s absolute non-existence off the ball doesn’t help this forward line find any consistency.

He was great until the end product which is the exact opposite of what you expect from him.

Should be dropped for Rich.

Big fan of Kulu but not against this. Richy was great on that side last time he played. Also meant Kane played more in #10, which always good for us.

His position is fine imo. The mistakes he's making are not a product of the position he's playing. He's making dumb decisions where he used to make smart ones.

The role of being a inverted RW who mostly crosses to the far post suits him perfectly.

I think he’ll be fine if we can get build a better team. While the other 2 forwards are good goal scorers, they both are poor off the ball at this stage in their careers. We could also use a midfielder with better vision - specifically one that puts him into more advantageous positions.

Its crazy how there's only one or two inherently "quick" players in our starting 11 (Porro, Son?). Its no surprise that we play at such a low tempo every game, we barely have any quick or agile players to move quickly with the ball
Bingo. Other than Son and Porro, the starting XI are “pace challenged“. When your other winger in a 30 something (I won’t say has-been) guy, there’s an issue. The bench has speed, but getting in for 10 minutes doesn’t do much.

Yup, Porro aside Romero is the fastest in the back line, and when you have mr oil tanker in the middle of defence it's impossible to have a high line, or allow the CMs to wander about.

Skipp in particular has put in some titanic shifts to protect that circus at the back.

Who's fast at Brighton? It's not just lack of pace slowing us down. It's the indecisive, inaccurate passing which always has to come after a player has double checked every passing option.

The left side...Mitoma, Estupinan...Caicedo is good for a MF and probably a few more that I can't think of.
None of them are slow, but also not fast. Emerson, who isn't known for his speed, could confortably keep up with them.

Fast is Son, Rashford, Haaland, Salah, Moura etc. These are players that can actually use pace to achieve an advantage on the pitch against most PL defenders.

I don't need it explained to me what pace is FFS. For Caicedo your point stands IF you disregard he's in the MF where there are typically slower players; he is pacey for position. mitoma is rapid AND tricky.

And our play is slow not because our players are slow (they are)...it's because they are all technically shit...All of them. And yes, taht brings into account the passing you mention. But it's more the lack of movement into spaces where their technical deficiencies will be exposed. Since we're in his thread let's take Kulu...he can only go where his 1 peg allows him and as an inverted winger he has to chop back to his left to hit that back post cross. All a beat or 2 slower.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that our tactics and formation stifles our attacking players. Once that changes they’ll be fine. It will be interesting to see if Stellini and Mason do it or whether we have to wait until next season to see it. I’m not worried about him.

Chicken/egg - egg/chicken

I think our forwards, particularly Kulusevski and Son, lack of ability to do reliable things, and weak efforts without the ball, stifles our football.
