He looks so one paced but his all round game is untidy just now. He needs to find that bit of sharpness which will improve everything in his game. 12 days to go. We really need him to step up.
He is one paced. That’s why he looks it. If it quacks it’s a fucking duck.

The excuses for this guy just ever end. Now it’s sharpness before it was tiredness then it was the manager, then it was the system, then it was the position etc

It’s like people deluded into thinking we’ve got this great footballer under the hood hiding somewhere. We haven’t.

Loves a goal or an assist against United though

I don’t think he’s got it in him to effect the game like madders when he plays central. He just barges about barging into players.

I used to be a fan of him but he’s a passenger just now and miles off it but Ange will play him.
Johnson is a passenger but Ange will play him.
That is our biggest issue for the final. We can’t get away with that in a final against Utd. Our only hope is that these two can find something and step up. I don’t hold any hope for that to happen.

Johnson has a goal in him. That is a very important quality in a final. So I’d definitely be playing him.

If Maddison can’t play there isn’t much option other than Kulusevski so they’ll both start I’m pretty sure of that.

I agree, he's a very different kind of 10, he isn't a game controller but a player who's effective (when in form) in and around the box.
Yeah, if we go into that game with Richie LW, Kulu 10 and johnson RW we can kiss any chance good bye. Im honestly thinking we go Son LW, Kulu RW, Solanke up front and play bissouma bentacur sarr and just try to dominate the midfield battle. They play a 2 in midfield, so with the legs with we can take control there.

The key thing for me is with the full backs now kicking on wide it means kulu and son can be very effective as inside forwards again, so kulu can be in the space he's effective in and son is able to cut in and shoot.

This just all feels incredibly harsh.

Did you not watch him earlier in the season? Games against Man United, West Ham and City all come to mind! Agree he has been poor since his injury but he was arguably our best player before all that.

Richie has been great the last few games - I'd 100% start him on the left regardless if Sonny is fit or not and then give sonny 30 minutes off the bench

Kulusevski loves a game against the Manchester clubs

Regardless who’s fit, you play him in the final
You are the only person who engages with Blakey. You are very patient and tolerant but you keep quoting him which tempts me to see what drivel he has come out with. He is 60 with one leg and he claims without irony to be a better selection than Kulu. Please stop quoting him directly..Incidentally Kulu will score in the final which Blakey won't even be watching.

Do people just not change their views with new evidence? Is it you've decided a certain player is bad and thats it you never change your mind? It was only a few days ago I saw posters asking for Spence to start over Porro and Udogie!! Its like they watched the Frankfurt game and refused to change their mind.

Anyway back to my point... Brennan Johnson has been scoring goals without playing well for most the season. However, last night he actually played well, worked really hard and pressed all game. Was also back covering with Porro for most the first half. Was a very disciplined performance and one the best I've seen ffrom him. I even loved that yellow card he got in the first half. We were up against it at the time and being pinned back, that tackle to me showed we ain't going to lie down like previous spurs teams have done away in Europe.

Over the 2 legs Brennan did well. Scored in the first leg and worked his socks off in the second leg.He literally left it all out there and was limping off at the end. Please take that onboard and be willing to give him some credit rather than just deciding you don't rate him and sticking with that no matter what he does. He's our top scorer and will 100% start the final unless he's injured. Its sad that you think he doesn't deserve to start the final after playing a key role in the semi finals.

I thought he was totally ineffective yesterday. Looked hungover he was so slow.

I'm wondering if he needs to play in the front three, or not at all.
He was our worst player yesterday by a good bit but I did think he got slightly better as the game went on.

I'm hoping he'll keep improving with more football. He might just be a player who needs a lot of rhythm to get back to form. Thats what I'm hoping anyway. We won't win the final if he's not back to pre-christmas form!

I don’t think he’s that bad a player, I just feel he’s massively over-rated and for some reason this guy gets more excuses made for poor games than anyone else. At some point you have to start saying maybe he just isn’t that good. I don’t see the same excuses made for others as I see with Kulusevski.

The thing is, he's incredibly slow. Which isn't so bad when you're making things happen on the ball or you're scoring tap-ins.

But when you're incredibly slow and you aren't doing anything when you get the ball, you are a passenger.

Someone like Tel or Odobert could at least run at defenders or run the channels.

He does but one specific type of goal

I personally disagree. I think he offers very little there, is only a goal threat from set pieces and headers, isn't a good dribbler isn't a good playmaker. Our attack was very blunt with him and johnson because neither can do anything but tap in. I know we scored 5 goals, but the amount of attacks richie wasted over both legs was huge. Against a prem side, particularly one that has 5 defenders and 2 holding 6s, we need more than just that. Son is apparently going to get minutes at the weekend, so lets see how he does now udogie stays on the outside as he is an inside forward so it will suit him

I thought he looked absolutely hopeless as a 10 for most of last night and actually thought he improved when he went out wide.

But then in the next game he starts out wide he will look hopeless there and then will improve when he goes inside.

Such a weird player but, frankly, I think as other have alluded to, the bottom line is he’s just not as good a player as many try and force themselves to believe.

For some strange reason he seems to be exceptionally highly rated outside of Spurs circles though, which is very unusual for a Spurs player. Usually even our genuinely top class players aren’t rated that highly.
If a serious offer came in for him in the summer I would 100% sell.

He looked much better and more confident when he moved to the RW.
