It’s just sad knowing that is a pretty much guarantee loss of possession on a free kick whoever takes it and we don’t seem to have many in ‘good’ positions anyway which makes them even less likely.

It also seems that we seem to always give at least one good opportunity to the opposition right on the ‘d’ every single game and multiple indirect chances in wide areas. Against teams who always seem to have some specialist that smacks it in top corner or looks so confident that they will - ward prowse and Wilson spring to mind. Our fks you say ‘well he’s going to miss’ as soon as they put the ball down.

I'd say that from that you can deem that most DFKs lead to a loss of possession.

I get that most lose possession, but I guess what I meant is it’s more of a feeling of confidence that anything will come of it? If KDB is standing over a free kick there’s a certain level of expectation. Yeah he misses more than he scores but you get a feeling he ‘could’score.

I remember getting a free kick 25 yards out when Bale was standing over it and everyone would stand up and there would be a buzz of excitement because you had a feeling that even if it didn’t go in, it would still be a ‘good effort’ and be saved or close. I can’t remember the last time we had that - even when eriksen scored a couple back in 2015 or whenever it was and was called a free kick specialist for ever after for the next 500 he wasted. I was sat in with the Norwich fans for the 2:2 at Christmas and said to my Norwich supporting mate ‘well this isn’t going in’ and being genuinely surprised it went in. Perhaps the whole confirmation bias thing mentioned earlier is more of a thing than I realised.

Perhaps Hoddle should be given a coaching job to show how free kicks should be taken. He was absolutely brilliant at FK's. However I am finding it difficult to suggest who he should coach.

Its a huge weakness because we waste those chances, teams can just foul us outside the box quite safely. Kane is terrible at it, baffles me. No one, manager, trainers, players calls him out on it? Eriksen was shit too, look at the stats, great one season then terrible. I hope Jose signs someone who has it in their locker, or tries someone else.
