Complete story is that Edwards (DoF ex Spurs) scouted Salah but Klopp refused to endorse the signing a few times (he really wanted a goal scoring striker, not a 'washed up' ex Chelsea reject who wasn't a striker - Edwards had to almost put Klopp into an armlock to force Klopp not to veto it.
Klopp later admitted he totally got Salah wrong and really backed Edwards ability to spot players
Edwards was of course correct - he'd seen Salah give Spurs a bad time when we played Basle (Salah's then club) as an example
He's our most natural cover for both sides.
RB: Porro, Spence, Gray
LB: Udogie, Spence, VDV
Good enough cover.
I think that's more than enough quality and physicality to deal with most of the EL teams in the group stage, Drags and VDV in the middle is pretty sturdy back 4.Largely agree..... Only question is if the plan is to rotate both FBs for EL games then are we happy playing Gray & Spence together?

It does mean you give Gray less minutes at 6 (which seems to be our long-term position for him) but we have enough good CMs to figure it out.

Especially as we know VDV is a bonafide very decent option there too.Yeh I'm certainly not desperate for a new LB like some people are.
It seems foolish to me to prioritise anything other than attack.
So after Salah arrived, Liverpool never actively tried to sell him and the comparison to Spence is completely fucking irrelevant.
The whole point is that if Spence does work it's been fortunate for us because we were actively trying to sell him.Hmmm. I'm neutral here, but the post which I think you misread and responded to said 'Yeah just like Liverpol got lucky with Salah when Klopp didn't want him...'
But no, Liverpool did not actively try to sell Salah after he arrived (although Klopp might have been less effusive when he first arrived, and had to grow to like him) .
