Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I wonder how Spence feels about being called a 'club signing', being forced out on loan, and then coming back and hearing 18 year old Gray has secured playing time guarantees superseding any good performance he might give?

Not saying that anything is necessarily wrong with any of those individuals decisions, or that he may not have brought it on himself, but you can see why he might be a bit frustrated in that situation.

In terms of being a ball carrier he's clearly the best FB we have.
The rest of his qualities haven't been found lacking so far, either...
Yeah should be clear, Porro is a better footballer I'd genuinely play him further forward. But it terms of defensive side of the game Spence can do more of the basics well. Heading marking. He also has the advantage of not being exhausted . His lack of game time in the short term might see him flag, one to keep an eye on.

If Spence is fine at LB it's potentially a great balanced pairing with Porro able to deliver from deep and shoot from outside, while Spence does his incisive running thing.

I've always honestly hoped Ange ball would develop so one fullback would sit . If Spence he'd shuffle across and let the other one attack primarily Udogie. Then get another more defensive LB to play Porro as the attacker.

If it's an attitude problem with Spence then it's certainly not obvious on the pitch... looks one of the busiest, takes on his man and always looking for the pass. Good overlapping runs.

Another excellent game tonight. Something positive at last in this injury shitstorm.

I feel like credit is due to the coach in this situation.

The message has clearly been "your training's not good enough, reach this level and you'll play".

Djed's done the work to reach that level, and clearly that level can help us.

While giving credit to him, I do think you can't underestimate the benefit of not having played a trillion minutes this season like Porro and Udogie have had to. Rotation will do all of them a world of good physically and mentally.

Lol how you are crediting Ange I do not know. He was able to of play months ago we saw that against Coventry. That we have battered Porro and Udogie is fucking inexcusable.

That's not really what happened is it?

I've a strong suspicion he's only being played because both Porro and Udogie are gassed, and he's being forced to play Gray at CB
