Player Djed Spence

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why hasnt he been played before? Crazy treatment of a very decent player. Comfortably looks our best defensive full back.
This is confusing the fuck out me tbh.

He's sort of reminding me of Gareth Bale in a way.
He wasn't getting a kick under Redknapp and was probably close to being sold. Then an injury crisis forced him to get a game and grabbed the chance with both hands.
I'm also seeing a bit of attacking intent from Spence that makes me wonder if he has a future further up the pitch.

We don’t know what happens behind closed doors. Maybe his attitude and application towards training was not what it should have been but the penny has definitely dropped now. He looks very good and comfortable on the left too.
Seems like Djed finally made a change this summer because neither Conte nor Ange were able to get a tune out of him before.

Doesn't reflect well on their man management. I know the players need to take responsibility but it's also a manager's job to get a tune out of these guys. Would have been a perfect RWB for Conte profile wise.

Anyway, just glad he has finally arrived and there's no going back now. He has proven he's up to it at this level. Udogie will have to step up big time to get his place back.

You can be the best man manager there is but for me it’s an individual thing and Djed has obviously got his house in order. I really enjoy watching him. He’s a much better player than Udogie but I would love to see him on the right and Porro play higher up. I think having two players on the one side that work like fuck and happy to get up and down the pitch all day would be great. Having those two on one side would give them that freedom knowing if we lost it there’s a desire to get back and defend. We don’t get that with Johnson/Sonny and Werner as wide players. Also Porro is a brilliant crosser of the ball.

Just a thought because we are getting nothing from our wide forwards in general play.

Yeah no mystery herr as Ange said it himself, he's just matured as a person and is working hard now.
Guess that loan to Italy straightened him out.

Deserves all the flowers he's getting for not staying on the bum path

It's all there for him if he really wants it. He can become our number 1 left-back and also England's number 1 right or left-back where he's likely to be competing with Hall and Livramento going forward.

Great point about Porro playing more as a wide right forward. We have played Dejan there and Porro is faster, and a better crosser than Dejan or Johnson. Yang , Moore and Odebert are the future. Hopefully Muani comes in and hits the ground running.

For all the talk of attitude problems (sparked mainly by Warnock). We've seen really no evidence of that with us. If anything we've seen the opposite.

Couldn't get a look in. Went out on loan to Genoa. Applied himself there so much that they wanted it to become permanent, but they couldn't afford it.

Comes back to us. Doesn't get registered for europe, doesn't get a look in for a short while. Seemingly back in limbo... But signs a new contract. Waits for his chance...

And he's taking it. Not only is he taking it but he's growing every week. The way he went up against Salah was something I didn't know he had in him. He's at this current moment, our most complete full back. Strong in both attack and defense. Really happy with him and for him.

The only thing we know is that until Ange he’d had plenty of coaches but the only one he’d clicked with was Cooper at Forest.

That was followed by a string of coaches not clicking with him.

Now it looks like he’s been given a second chance by Ange, he’s been made to earn it and he’s earned it. Now we can really see that he’s clicking with Ange.

And I think any coach will tell you that when the shit hits the fan and they see players step up, those are the players that you build the strongest bond with.

Djed is clearly introverted and a bit aloof but he’s fearless and confident against anyone, in any circumstance. He bullied the form player in the world last night. Really stuck it on him.

He definitely needs to play that side in the second leg as his shut down of Salah was mighty impressive and went largely under the radar with the pundits.

Hardly surprising I suppose given the partisan lineup in the studio (bar Daws)! 🙄
Djed's been excellent since coming in. Good balance between defense and attack; on balance I'd say he's been our best FB this season.
