Well when your 9 options are Nketiah and Jesus, and your league top scorer is a winger who never plays up top and (as far as I know) doesn’t take pens, then it’s an understandable position.

Solanke is a better striker than Jesus or Havertz.
He is better striker than Jesus and Havartz moulded together.
Last season there was very little between Watkins and Solanke. Solanke arguably should have gone ahead of Toney. Southgate only took 3 actual strikers.
