Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That is LITERALLY history repeating itself!

Solanke had one great season for Bournemouth... ✓

He is essentially replacing Kane (albeit a season later) ✓✓

Is our record signing!! ✓✓✓

Either we never learn, or our luck HAS to change!
You’d think so re luck N’Dombele bossed Man City rotten. Soldado , Rebrov duds you could argue but we’ve had success Bale, Eriksen, Van der Vaart. perhaps evens itself out

Fair post. What gives me more hope than anything about this signing though is his age and his profile, rather than the actual player himself.

Wether folk think he was worth the transfer fee or not, he was clearly not signed with future resale in mind, but rather for the immediate impact he has on the team.
Wether that impact is measurable only time will tell, but it's at at least refreshing that we spent some proper money on the here and now, rather than on the future.

Agree, and it's refreshing to see us address both ends of the Spectrum.

If Bergwall and Gray are looking to the future, then Solanke is definitely looking to RIGHT NOW!

...and I know I keep going on about him, but if we went in for Eze - and got him - then that would prove beyond doubt that we're taking the here -and-now JUST as seriously as the come what may in future!

If Solanke for 60m was put in the transfer thread during the euros there would’ve been a total meltdown and the poster getting totally derided. Now he’s here it’s a great signing, wonder what the reaction would be if Woolwich pulled this off.

The absolute worst thing that comes from this is we end up with a healthy, durable, athletic target man for 4-6 more years. But Solanke clearly has at least a bit more about him than that- there really is a high ceiling for him playing in such a dedicated offensive system. I'm genuinely excited to see him start at ST for us.

Honestly I think 65m seems too much for him too but that is the premium rate for Prem-proven English players. I understand why the club paid that.

No one

I repeat no one was clamouring for us to sign Solanke at any point during this window or the previous season

And then like clockwork, as soon as it was clear we were moving for him it's suddenly ....

Perfect for an Ange System
Best striker available
Pressing machine
All round striker

Gotta love this fanbase

He might turn out to be a good signing but the revisionism and flip flopping makes me laugh

:paraticiwink:

We should buy Dominic Solanke.

No Chris Armstrong had scored 23 or 25 goals for Palace the year before we signed him - and looked a decent signing. Sadly injuries reduced his effectiveness after one season.

Also had the unenviable task of replacing Jurgen Klinsmann and was also carrying the burden of being Spurs record signing.
Armstrong only scored 8 league goals the season before we signed him. In fact he had 23 Premier league goals in total across 2 seasons at that point. He never scored more than 15 PL goals in a season.
