Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Cos 70m is a lot of money and he (like Neto) is not without his physical frailties.

I'd have been happy enough to sign him (unlike Neto); but I don't think he'd have been as much of a game-changer as some people make out.

Fair - i think he would have been a great option for us to ave but was clearly not the player we actually need, which is someone like neto - but anyone who thinks that Neto playing the high press intensity for Ange isn't injured for 80% of the season is kidding themselves.

Fair play - find it odd that no club approached them - must have been a reason
The 2 clubs that were rumoured to be interested were us and City.

City didn't want to splash any cash because they know what's coming in regards to the charges against them.

We didn't bid because our manager didn't think he was the right fit. Ange clearly wanted a winger type player (Neto) to play his system and Eze simply wasnt a fit. A fucking thick as pig shit decision but nothing the board can do about that. They did their job courting him and his family with the box seats but if the manager says no what can they do?

Yeah, makes sense.

Bollocks. You have no idea of any of this.

Notice you didnt respond to my post above because you know it is true.

What was your previous post?

Its a highly probable outcome of events (unlike your baseless argument about it all being the boards fault). You see Ange say Solanke WAS MY FIRST CHOICE but your brain processes that as "Fuck the board for making Ange sign Solanke".

Lets break down the Eze potential signing:

*Ange likes his wingers providing width and whipping in balls. How have i come to this conclusion? ive seen Anges previous teams, ive seen Anges comments in regards to how he wants the game played, ive seen a video of our coach instructing players to not even look and just whip ball into 6 yard box.

*Ange said after the Odobert signing that there was players he was after (for that position) but they decided to join other clubs. Doue and Neto joined other clubs (Eze did not).

So based on all these factors i have concluded that Ange did not want Eze. I have also concluded that the board/lange did have an interest in Eze based on them giving an opposition players family a box to watch the game (something i think theyve never done).

Im not agenda driven like you. I don't try and blame someone for everything and just blindly stick to my opinion just because that was my opinion previously. I've always said the board have historically never backed the manager previously but just because its happened before it does't mean its happening now.

I literally said yesterday I wanted Johnson after seeing him perform in the championship, yet changed my opinion after seeing him in the flesh playing for forest. That was one example yesterday. Another this week was me saying we shouldnt change the manager then last night I wasnt convinced. So you're wrong there. You are definitely agenda driven, you've convinced yourself like other that Ange isnt the right man and wont change from it.

The board wont be backing the manager. He might have wanted Solanke out of the players he was given a list of. Again, you know how it works at Spurs (and otehr clubs). Manager's are given a list of players who match what they want in a position and have to pick one from the recruitment team's suggestions. It's been like that for donkey's years. I should say I think Solanke will be fine for us, his biggest problem is that he isnt HArry Kane.

This is my concern. I decided to watch all of his goals and assists from last season and many of them could just as easily have not gone in, or relied on the type of ball in space that we typically don't tend to get because of teams defending deep against us. Obviously he'll get a decent amount of chances at Spurs, so that should count in his favour, but my impression is that 19 was a spike in form rather than a reflection of his ability. I think he'll probably get 10-15.

Sticking by this from when we signed him, and once again last night we saw the issues with Solanke vs. organised packed defences when we can't whip the ball into him.

I do think he'll score a decent amount this season but if we want to get the best out of him, then we need to play 20 yards deeper and be more accurate with crosses.

Of course he did, imagine how shit the alternatives were!

You know how it works. Managers are given a list of players for a position they want and they pick one of them, then when we fuck up getting them (Neto), they decide to go somewhere else (doue) you’re left with the third or fourth on the list.

What did you want instead, another summer of signing nobody because the options the manager is given are awful? This happens to every manager of ours because we just don’t want to pay what it takes to get the very best players.
Same old. It was like when we were short in midfield & last day out the window poch was offered sissoko. It’s another body I guess. It’s not like poch had his heart set on sissoko all summer & was delighted when we finally got him in the last minute of the window. Conte too didn’t have his first picks in crucial positions for his system to work. I think levy even got him Spence despite him not wanting him. Looks conte was right on the one. Some will have you believe poch wanted no summer signings in that infamous window were our demise started. It’s been the same for every manager. Title race at Xmas with harry & we get Saha & Nelson!
I think the other issue is angeball type players & system is very basic & limited . Then when you throw in him getting offered 7 out of 10 type players to fill his crucial positions….. you have this average team!
No manager will reach their potential & maximum here because of levy & ENIC.
& the offering of less wages & ££. We also never go for the game changing bigger ££ players. Selling your best as they want to actually win things. Scraping top 4 is the best you can do at Tottenham.

I get what you are saying but Chelsea, Woolwich and Man United seem to manage attracting players without Champions League Football.

It's a massive draw but it's not the be all and end all. Money is and always was.

It's still a massive drawer for many players though. And players still join United obviously conned into thinking they will get back to the team they were 10 years ago.

We're a good club with a fantastic stadium, outstanding facilities and we're based on London, which is a big appeal to foreign players. So we still have plenty of appeal. But it would just be even better if we were playing CL football.

Dread _______________X __________Hope

After the lucky win against Coventry, playing at home today I have moved a couple of marks towards hope on the Dread - Hope scale.

The last game changing player we had, moved to Germany last year.
He left because we couldn't match his ambitions, this has and will continue to be the case during ENIC tenure.

I didn’t watch the Coventry game, but I thought he was the least of our attacking troubles in his other 2 matches. Give him some decent service and he should be an asset. I think we get the job done today and he gets off the mark.
